Comment on our disposal society as a new economic engine.

Recently, I had to replace a kitchen electric stove. The old one (really not that old - 7 years) had its computer controlled panel including push buttons suddenly fail to properly respond to the repeated buttons pushing. Had to throw the circuit breaker to turn off the damn oven! The local repair guys quoted me a price for parts and labor of XXX dollars. Guess what a new, fancier, upgraded model costs? XXX minus 35 dollars. No brainer on what to do ... except to try to avoid outbursts of frustration and anger.

As I have commented on previous posts, how much I detest this computerized world. Nothing lasts, it’s not repairable by a common man or cheaply repaired by a parts exchanger, the parts to be replaced are not easily accessible, and it costs an arm, leg, and first born to have it repaired.

How can a society be successful and productive when everything is disposable?

The way of life we are currently living is destined to not end well. What a waste of resources, time money, energy all in the name of fancier things to own which are designed and manufactured to fail - sooner rather than later!

Hey you wanna hear lazy? Not three different stores in this town have Jello pudding that isn't 'instant'. Blah! It doesn't even taste right. I just gave up after the 3rd store had only 'instant' pudding. My grandson's new wife 'doesn't cook'.
