LOL! I DO remember when SNL was actually funny! Yes, I'm old and at risk, but I'm NOT staying home. Where am I going? "Out".

Those were definitely the funniest days :) I enjoyed the Farley days as well. 90s were pretty good... sort of stopped watching around the Will Ferrell time... he was only occasionally funny. Oddly the only movie i actually liked him in was Stranger Than Fiction... which wasn't a comedy role.

I laughed at the Saturday Night Live one. Did you see the one with the asian translator and Obama? It was so funny I cried. My daughter in law captured it and plays it back sometimes. It is still funny!

Me old dino remembers the Land Shark who'd knock on the door and announce "Candygram." Loved the Killer Christmas Tree and the Killer Bees. And Andy Kaufman playing The Mighty Mouse song on a kid's record player, only pretending to sing when it was time to sing, "Here I come to save the day." Later watching Andy wrestle women who came out of the audience was when SNL had become boring.
Know for a fact I had quit watching before 1980.

Today's news about the UNC giving tenure to the 'black' woman who had never taught any classes anywhere (and is the lying moron who created the fraud of the 1619 rubbish) made me think of the episode when Garrett Morris was interviewing the politician Julian Bond on "Black Perspective" in 1977.

Garrett Morris: [ interrupting ] But the fact is that people have been saying that white people are smarter than black for hundreds of years. We’ve only had I.Q. tests for 20 or 30 years. How did the idea of white intellectual superiority originate?

Julian Bond: That’s an interesting point. My theory is that it’s based on the fact that light-skinned blacks are smarter than dark-skinned blacks.

Garrett Morris: [ not sure he heard that right ] Say what?

Julian Bond: I said I think it might have grown out of the observation that light-skinned blacks are smarter than dark-skinned blacks.

Garrett Morris: I don’t get it.

Julian Bond: It’s got nothing to do with having white blood. It’s just that descendants of the lighter-skinned African tribes are more intelligent than the descendants of the darker-skinned tribes. Everybody knows that.

Garrett Morris: This is the first time I’ve heard of it.

Julian Bond: Seriously? It was proven a long time ago.

Garrett Morris: Well, I still don’t quite understand. We’re out of time right now, but perhaps you could come back on the show again and explain it further.

Julian Bond: There’s very little to explain – it’s just like I told you.

See the photos on this page. Garrett is on the left; Julian on the right.

Me dino is reminded of interviewing a Klansman in Mississippi during my 7 years as a newspaper reporter when coincidentally SNL was funny enough for me to watch.
That Democrat was carrying on about black inferiority when I brought up George Washington Carver who (I just looked it up) invented 300 products sourced from peanuts.
The Klansman opined that Carver had to have had "some white blood" in him.
