The New Normal
Last night I watched a really good episode of Blue Bloods: "The New Normal", February 4, 2021. Unfortunately I can't give a link to this series, since I am watching it on Amazon Prime. ( I know we are supposed to be boycotting Amazon, but this is just one of the many reasons that I can't do this. ) However if you can find a way to access this series, I think you will find this episode to be a very good exposition of what the new normal is all about, and how the Regan family deals with it.
Frank handles a police captain that has lost touch with his subordinates. He is allowing them to supervise themselves, and so his territory has no police coverage. They are sleeping in their patrol cars and not answering calls.
Erin is up against the "new bail laws", wherein judges are supposed to "rehabilitate" hardened criminals. She finds a way to get around this by defying her new District Attorney who, as a liberal, has been appointed to that position instead of Erin.
And both Eddie and Danny have brushes with the new normal as well.
