I was responding specifically to the "we" I interpreted in diessos' comment about 'we are becoming a country.' In this context, as I watch the impeachment trial, I am seeing things and attitudes, and hearing words and thoughts that I never really knew people actually believed. I guess one of the things that - as a conservative - bothered me, was always the idea that "if they saw what we see, they wouldn't feel that way." And what I am learning now is that they are thinking the same thing about us. Whether they believe what they are actually saying, I don't know, but they certainly are dramatizing it. Some of these people should be nominated for Academy Awards. I realize that's not really an answer to your question, but I hope it somehow explains the context in which I was using the word "we" in that comment.

Of course I have other contexts and thoughts about "we." Which I will think about as I cook dinner, which is next up.

No, they won't stand up for them or with them..they are to a large extend to blame for their kids turning out to be little commies. I am 62, I have 3 adult kids. I carefully indoctrinated them to resist all this sort of BS. I told my daughters, of which I have 2, that if they ever came home with a Democrat boyfriend I would stick my foot up their behind that they would choke on it. Both have married well. As a parent you have got to watch your children so they don't go on the wrong path, by for instance falling under the spell of college professors and the like. I liken the indoctrination I mentioned to a vaccine. If you don't administer it carefully they can catch a lifelong case of stupidity.
