I struck out on my own at 17, started a family at 19 and began my first small business at 22. We lived poor, struggled and worked hard. Now, as the owner of two businesses and father of 4 we Still work hard and struggle, but we get a little more comfortable each year and sleep well knowing that everything we have We Have Earned.
I read Atlas in my early 20’s and Loved it. I still love it. I try to instill the values I learned from it in my children. This is one way I actively try improving the world around me.
The only significant difficulty I have with Rands philosophy is her lack of belief in a good and just God.
I hope to gain more insights on success and ideals that align with my understanding of Rand’s perfect world to best direct my energies in the short time I have here on earth.
TIA,
-Bob

I look forward to reading your Law Blog. I prefer to look at Objectivism as a well integrated and logical philosophy that doesn't require a belief in a god to understand and support and live by, rather than one that requires the non-existence of God. Over the last 30+ years, I've read through Atlas at least 7 times and gone back to study it in sections as well. Of course, I've read the rest as well, and use much of the philosophy in the private school I founded, and I like that it can stand alone simply on the foundation of one's right to life and Man as an end in himself. [especially that it can provide teens with the "real reason" for honesty as a virtue]

We each may have our own experiences that convince us of various otherworldly things, but at least I, and hopefully others, would not ask another to rely upon what they cannot verify through their own experience and reason. In this life, objective reality is the harsh and final arbiter in our relations and dealings with each other.
