"Your didn't build that..." redux

Remember when Obama said, "You didn't build that...?" This could not be a clearer statement of his Marxist philosophy than if he walked up to a microphone and declared himself, "I am a Marxist."

I've been reading Thomas J. Malone's book, "A Defense of American Ideals" (which I highly recommend, by the way) and ran across the following:

"Henry Hazlitt summed up Marxism as follows...

The whole gospel of Karl Marx can be summed up in a single sentence:
Hate the man who is better off than you are. Never under any circumstances
admit that this success may be due to his own efforts, to the productive
contribution he has made to the whole community. Always attribute his
success to the exploitation, the cheating, the more or less open robbery
of others. Never under any circumstances admit that your own failure may
be owing to your own weakness, or that the failure of anyone else may be
be due to his own defects - his laziness, incompetence, or stupidity.
..."

Obama's "You didn't build that..."comment reflects his own moral bankruptcy. He
wouldn't recognize an entrepreneur if he tripped over one.

After statements like this, and many other similar comments (remember when he said “at some point I think you have earned enough”) that there are still people who think this President believes in american values! Who was it that said “there a sucker born every minute”? This country appears to have surplus of suckers.

We used to be a nation of people who admired success--we have now become just what you said, we can only envy success. And that is because where previously we had opportunities to move forward, the major portion of Americans are stuck in an income level not of their choosing.
Thus: The 1% vs the 99%--which will only result in worse conditions. But I think that's what the LLDSP's actually want, behind the oh-so-caring wording of their speeches, and, I might add, the media.

I always thought Rand's choice of the word greed was unfortunate. It has been taken in its worst context by the ever-morally superior left!

I feel the same way--he seems to view people as only an extension of himself, in that other people are only tools he can use to get what he wants for himself. Almost a serial killer mentality--(you didn't hear that from me---)

Had a chance to sue my district for being hounded out of my teaching position, bullied and harassed.

You do know who pays for that, financially, right?

Sometimes taking responsibility hurts like heck, costs a lot and leaves you losing out of something because to win means a LOT of collateral damage (in this case every taxpayer in the district).

I am responsible for my own choices, but more, as we face these challenges and the Democratic Socialists of America (look them up - they own more than half our Democratic Congresspeople - we may have to take loses because it is the only ethical choice.

That just means we have to be twice as vigilant about opportunities to act.

Glad Galt's Gulch is on the front lines.
There are a few of us remaining JFK Democrats with you.

Obama would recognize the tax possibilities of an entrepreneur. In that, there are limitless possibilities.

I agree completely. It is not within a government's purview to make a profit--especially, this government, which doesn't even believe in profits.
And only if you make a profit, can you invest in the future. I call it future consumption, as opposed to present consumption, which is all government can or ought to do.

The product of government is force, and they maintain a monopoly. Big government's have an insatiable desire to conquer everything everywhere.

When I worked my butt off to create new businesses the only one that I can attribute any help to is my wife. The job was hard, the barriers to success difficult, but in the end it was mine and I owed it to no one else. When my son got and original idea for an enterprise we made up for our lack of capital by hard work and original thinking. We built that. His philosophy, which I learned from him and adopted was, "There are no barriers. You are your only barrier."

As an aside, Hazlitt is a great resource. He also wrote a novel, "Time Will Run Back" which while a bit outdated, illustrates capitalism while telling a story.

Well, I know Government didn't create iPhones, MS Windows, cars, homes or anything. Further, as a lawyer, he has created absolutely nothing except arguments, so it is even more inappropriate a statement.

Exactly DR! Been trying to get this across to as many people as possible, especially the young and educated/indoctrinated. Greed is a powerful buzzword the socialists like to use against the American Way. Equally if not more atrocious is ENVY which actually defines the socialists more so than Greed defines hard working Americans!

About the time BO made that speech I had asked him, well, he's doing everything for everyone else, isn't there something he can do to help me get filthy rich? (I was being sarcastic, of course. He has trouble with sarcasm--he wants to take any statement about him in the best way possible.)

So I think that's where he came up with that speech!

The sin of Envy. Hardly ever talked about but massively ingrained into the new obama society.
Tenth commandment. Thow shalt not covet.
It is far worse than greed. Greed is self regulating. If company A raise prices, company B lowers to compete. But with envy, it is a bottomless pit of never being satisfied. It is based on lust for what others have attained and a demand for a third party, gobermint, to go and take it for them.

I didn't build that iPhone. That's why morally I need to earn money to buy it. Not vote for some politician who promises to have his thugs steal it for me.
