  Actually my friend cannot take credit for this statement it was made by Dr Jack Devere Minzey Head of the Department of Education of Eastern Michigan University (now deceased). He was also a prolific author. These thoughts were his.

    I'd prefer the volunteer government that obeyed the constitutional limits of the original constitution plus Bill of Rights. (You probably already knew that was my opinion.[grin])
    I do think that the military does need to be professionals at their craft, and that the civilians who control them should also control their impulses to use the military to meddle in foreign affairs.

Umm, neither? Where is this conservative volunteer government he/she speaks of? If we truly did, or if we did and such a government was half-competent, we might not have the other kind.
