That shared racoon post reminded me dino of a night on Tower 5 when I worked at the prison.
I spotted a mama racoon who approached followed by three babies along the outer fence line.
Mama passively watched as her babies began to climb my tower's red brick wall 90 degrees STRAIGHT UP.
The catwalk floor was grated metal so I could see through it and watch them climb between my feet.
Since those babies were already doing the impossible, I wondered what I'd do if those babies could get around the catwalk.
Worse, what would I do if mama came after her kids? Racoons have very sharp teeth! Guess I'd have to go back inside, close the door and all the windows.
I was not about to write an incident report about firing a shot that would automatically lock down the prison and start an institution-wide inmate headcount.
Fortunately, when the babies reached the catwalk, they briefly regarded it with stumped expressions and turned around.
Literally. Turned. Around. Like squirrels, they could actually crawl all the way back down FACE FIRST.
But me dino has never seen squirrels climb brick walls. Not ever.
