The current system "going down the tubes" is not capitalism. It is a mixed statist system, part free and part controlled. The statism is destroying the system, not freedom and not capitalism. Capitalism has been blamed by both the left and the right since before Ayn Rand wrote about it.

maybe what the leftists' real goal is the gathering of power over people, and they use whatever they can to enable the power grab. Whether socialism provides for the people is not part of the plan- and in fact would hinder their plan if in fact people prospered under it.

Excellent idea, and probably true, you may also have tapped into the new left method of taking over, insidious use of disasters, blame the companies into bankruptcy, then have a judge give it away...

Liberty, not quite as easy, the magnetic field bends the cosmic raysaround (as in a shield) as well as CME material and what other discharges come from the Sun in the way of electron flux, and plasma. Gas may only diffuse but not deflect, hence, the poles moving and field weakening is a real issue. Much more so that any "climate change", and is probably linked into it.

What happens to the overall magnetic field as N/S attractive magnets get closer and closer to each other?...seems to make sense that the overall field that surrounds these magnets gets smaller, therefore the overall effect of the field versus before the excursion should be weaker...and that is what they measured. At present, they claim the field is 20% weaker and getting weaker exponentially as both poles continue to move toward each other.

I don't think I have time to watch the video right now, as the time I am allowed on this library computer is limited. The written statement is interesting. But if it does turn out to be true, the way to avoid the effect of the cosmic rays would probably be to manufacture and send up some kind of gas to serve as a protective shield.

The earth is not an electric motor. Geomagnetism is not caused by an external electric power source with current through coils and a switch to turn it off. It does not spontaneously disappear. Geomagnetism and associated electric fields go together as a single system, mostly inside the core of the earth. All magnetism is associated with moving electric charges either in macroscopic currents or inside atoms.

Variations in geomagnetic fields are and have been well known for a very long time and not a cause for hysterical panic. Eventually, after billions of years, the sun and the rest of the solar system will die out. You are promoting an alt-science video fabricated by someone with no scientific credibility or objective explanation, breathlessly espousing his concocted conspiracy theories and predicting impending doom that NOAA scientists -- that the video calls the "the fraud of all frauds" -- are claimed to be "hiding" from us.

It's not the first of this from your posts. There is a pattern. It shows that serious scientific understanding and the work required to obtain it is not what attracts you. There is no such thing as "lamestream science", which terms means nothing more than an expression of conservative contempt for objective science while insisting that its emotional fantasies be respected as a substitute. Science is not just another "world view".

If you remove power from an electric motor does it not stop? Does not the electric field driving it collapse? The magnetism itself does not go away, the earths magnetic field is slowly drifting and collapsing, whether it fits your world view or not. The whole way they know of pole reversals is because the residual magnetic signature remains. That was not the video. The video was the magnetic field is destabilizing and wandering, and when the poles are adjacent they will collapse.

Gamma rays are electromagnetic radiation and need large masses to stop them. They are only affected by gravitation in a vacuum and traveling at the speed of light are hardly affected by the Earth's puny gravitational field. That mass for the Earth, before entering the surface, is the atmosphere. They will transmute some some of the atoms in the atmospheric gasses to isotopes.

The earth's magnetism does not disappear. If you pulled the two prongs of a horseshoe magnet together the magnetic field would not disappear either. Magnet fields traverse closed paths.
