    One of the reasons that there aren't a whole lot of statistics on defensive use of firearms is that frequently that involves simply showing the weapon. You don't have to shoot someone to "use" a weapon.

    I was once told that "shiny" guns are better than blued because they are scarier looking (more visible in lower light conditions) and may frighten away a potential attack without needing to discharge the firearm.

    Only once have I had an intruder and pointed my gun at him. I realized at that time I would have used it. My husband was in Viet Nam and my child was in danger. I would have used the weapon but he chose to exit my apartment.

    I don't think I could sleep nights without my guns even though I have a great alarm system on my house.

    Notice the gun grabbers don't share the successful gun stories of people who thwart intruders with their weapons!
