A comedian fights back against political correctness.

“A whopping 99 percent of viewers who aren’t members of Rotten Tomatoes’ professional critic class loved Dave Chappelle’s politically incorrect Netflix special, Sticks and Stones, while only 17 percent of the platform’s mainstream critics favored it.”

Apparently the professional critics don't see things the same way at we riff-raff see things. Not surprising. Pretty much the same way in government.

Why do comedians use the "F" word in every sentence? Do they think it adds humor to their lines? It's a big turn-off for me.

Most don’t. It reduces the shock value. It would be like always using the the words Nazi or racist on any pretty much any topic. Then again some people just don’t care about words and their meanings.

Funny you say that. (No pun intended) I seem to see a certain type of people using the words Nazi and racist all of the time. And, much like you say, the shock value is gone. If being conservative and wanting to keep what I earn is Nazi and racist, then Seig Heil.

Problem is...many of today's comedians simply aren't funny without the "F" word.

I think George Carlin was the last comedian who actually was able to make profane words funny.

That's a good question. To some degree there's an element of unwinding and the use of slang. I don't like the N word at all. He overuses it. I know what he means. Whatever.

It can add, but it takes skill. A lack of skill will detract and make it a case of 1+1=0.5.

That said, for some it is part of their normal speech patterns. You can usually spot the ones that are using it because they think they have to - it just doesn’t flow or fit the story. Most of them today think they have to, but I don’t think Dave is one of them.

I thoroughly enjoyed the special. I wouldn’t put it on the same level as Carlin, more of a Kinnison if we’re comparing.

Honestly, the part that is really pissing off the leftists is probably the bonus part after the show is over wherein he chats with the audience. His relating of what happened with a trans woman in his audience is particularly potent. It completely undermines the progressives narrative, in the way that Nagasaki undermined the notion that we only had one nuke.

I started watching this series late yesterday. I only got 5 minutes in before my daughter came in (young) and I had to stop it until later. Just 5 minutes in and Chappelle had me in tears of laughter. The guy is brilliant...

All humor is subjective. Chappelle, while funny, can be highly caustic on any topic he chooses. It easy to laugh or cringe when he speaks whether he's right or wrong. In this instance he knows he should be tiptoeing through a social minefield but he just don't care. Typical. Refreshing.

Further proof that the average person isn't all that "PC". Only the permanently offended class worries about finding things to cry and gnash their teeth about.

See his joke about the LBGT car ride and how he ends it with his example of being trapped in his own body. I won't spoil it for you. But, I haven't laughed that hard in a long time...OMG...
