      We care about the inappropriateness of the stream of unresponsive personal attacks, whether or not they are from a couple of retirees.

          The question referred to "unresponsive attacks". They are abusive, not whatever "WrongThink" means. Your vacation was fortunately free of them.

              This is a private forum with a purpose and guidelines for posting here. Private property is not censorship. Posts engaging in personal attacks are not rational discussion and are contrary to the guidelines for civilized behavior here. It's not a public zoo. That is not hard to understand, but those who can't comply should be removed whether or not they agree or understand. The forum is not provided for their exploitation through ugly emotional outbursts.

                  You judge for yourself what to think about anything, but it's the prerogative of the owners of the forum to choose its own guidelines and their enforcement for the use of the forum.

                    Oh, I know...because this statement leaving it up to the owners is completely different than the last whining post apparently by someone that can’t defend their statements with well-presented argument (well crusty dogma anyway):

                    This is an interesting day when the Gulch needs to resort to the behaviors of colleges excluding speakers that tell a snowflake they aren’t special.

                      It was not a "whining post"; it responded to a misuse of the term "censorship" and was fully consistent with the other response to a question.

                      Guidelines against personal attacks on this forum have nothing to do with the political correctness of colleges. Gratuitously calling a straightforward post "whining" and smearing it by misrepresenting it as linked to "excluding colleges excluding speakers" is an example of an inappropriate snide personal attack.

                        So which one is it?
                        1. The forum owners can do as they choose.
                        2. Comments you assert are "attacks" are attacks, and (fill in the blank) should happen because of the guidelines.
                        3. Commenters should "man up" and defend what they write, and what they object to with logic (not dogma, real actual logical argument, not a new blathering assertion disconnected from the previous, or switch to discussion of a quote from another post, or a disconnected quote from Ayn Rand's hairdressers diary - get the hint?).
                        4. It is just whining, like I said, because if it isn't 1 and 3 or 1 and 2 (with the blank filled in), guess what? It is whining.

                          The forum owners decide on their own standards and how to apply them. Anyone can judge for himself if that is being done consistently. There is no contradiction in what I wrote.

                          Anyone can see that your own responses here are snarling, sneering personal attacks, not logic.
