The article is good, but contrary to the intro it's not about "black society", which is itself racist.

Excuse me! My family got here before the Mayflower. One relative was born here in 1625! Now, on the other side we had the American Indians (my grandmother). The State of Texas stole her property (it's called the University of Texas in Austin! My family doesn't expect anything.

I have always felt Walter Willians just cuts to the chase, he knows how things work. I have read his stuff for years, and always felt he hit the mark. Reparations will not improve the living conditions of anyone, meanwhile they will take from everyone. Like Obama policies, they politician wins some votes, stays in office, and nothing changes for blacks. No one ever tells them, as RFK actually did, that we shouldhelp them help themselfves, their ocmmunities, it has to be their end game, not Congress who fixes things. Congress never fixed anything but Maxine and Schumer's bottom line.

And that is the crux of it. Democrats love to spend other peoples' moneys, but as soon as you ask them to pony up they suddenly change the topic.

I fully agree with "Reparations"! Any living black person who was a slave deserves to be repaid for the horrors they lived and any living slave owner owes them these payments.
My ancestors arrived here from Ireland and Scotland as "Indentured Servants" as children during the Potato famine. As soon as we pay the bills to the living black slaves we can begin paying off my relatives next. BTW, my ancestors got here before the black slaves.

If the left is really so insanely passionate about all the money these people “deserve”, then they should set up a voluntary go fund me account. Then they can show the world how charitable, honest, and “good” the left really is.

I sent an email off to Walter on June 6 asking his insights on the formation of Counsel on Unalienable Rights by the State Dept. Haven't heard back yet. My gut tells me this "Commission" is just another feigned issue, as "Reparations", to draw out conflicts.

I had this discussion with a white liberal acquaintance, and he was in favor of the idea. I asked him to think about his closest black friend, and I asked him these two questions: "Was he a slave? Did anyone do anything to enslave him?" The answer was a hem-hawed "Well, no, not really".

I followed up with "Did I own slaves? Did I do anything to enslave anyone?" Again, a wishy-washy "No, not really."

So I then said "Since nothing was done to your friend, and I didn't do anything to anyone, why do I owe your friend one thin dime?"

He just looked at me, and I could almost see his head start to smoke, like robots you've seen in bad science fiction movies when their electronic brain starts to overload. Watching him try and reconcile the logic of my argument with his white liberal guilt (I assume it was white liberal guilt) was worth the time spent in the discussion.

I just got up and walked away. I don't know how he still feels about reparations, as we talk even less than we did before this discussion.

While I admit I have not been actively searching, I have not seen/heard much from Walter Williams. I am glad to read his words. He and Thomas Sowell are really missed. I know they are way too smart to get directly involved but we could really use their intellect in our government now.

Me dino thought this reparations nonsense finally whimpered away a few years ago. Then I see all the "white privileged" among the horde of dimwit Dem POTUS hopefuls lining up to shout "Yes!" to gain Jackass Party applause and to kiss the reparations ring of race hustler Al Sharpton. What a sorry sight!

The Dem party is about nothing but emotions.

The members stumble over each other to come up with more and more "issues" that are pure fabrications, to solicit red hot emotions for revenge.

It is the easy way out as the left has always been wont to do, in place of the serious work of serving their constituents.

This entire bit of pandering garbage could be solved in just five words...No one owes you anything.

Because taking that money instills a sense of obligation toward the one who gave it to you. That emotional obligation is in lieu of an actual product or service. And we all know how big Democrats are about creating the emotional bondage required to support their looter culture.
