The North East received a foot of snow

As Maryland temperatures hit 11F, with -3 for wind chill, I drove off to Miami. Not until south of Palm Beach did the temperature register 60, with a nice 70 in Miami Beach. Will be here till end of April. My sympathies to the shivering hordes in the north. I imagine our ancestors during the last ice age burned a bunch of trees and collected many pelts to get by, or followed the herds southward. Yeah, by all means, let's fight global warming by making the planet cooler!

...or as my friend Jim would have said, "It was so cold, I had to bring the monkey inside."

Yes, Brevard County has been in the news more than it should have lately. It really is a great place to live.

We have gotten a lot of 75-100 mph winds here over the last 20 years, but the 125+ mph winds hit much further south than Melbourne because of the steering by the ocean current.

They graze you? You're being eaten alive by hurricanes that think you're grass?

Yes, we do have hurricanes. They always seem to just graze us. There is a reason that Florida has its shape.

I've been telling people it is a mini ice age, but they go listen to CNN baloney. In the Midwest, we had below zero double digits, 40 mph wind, and 6-8 inches of snow. We have drifts several feet high. Our front courtyard is covered, but the snow blew against the front storm door and we had to push to get it to open. I trudged out through it to feed the birds, squirrels and deer. We ended up with a new cat who took shelter on our covered and plastic draped deck, and once she was brought in the day before the big storm, she has not left the house, and is now family. We have a break, but more snow in a couple days! So, where was Ms. Cortez, not in her swimsuit in my snow drifts ranting about warming!

About time you join in the fun!! We've been in the freezer for quite a while now. Case in point: Warmed up above zero for past two days. With that we got 4+ inches of snow, and now starting tonight the wind is going to HOWL out of the north...25 to 35 mph & bringing with it temperatures of close to -25. Add in the windchill (or feels like) and we'll be -40 to -50, plus not being able to see because of the new snow!!!

Aside from the cold, everyone missed my note, the main reason I posted the link:

"It is so cold, I actually saw a Democrat with his hands in his own pockets!"

It is an attempted humor despite the biting cold.

At my home on the Texas Gulf Coast, Friday night the wind blew so hard it flipped on the outside automatic light that is usually only triggered by a very large animal or a human. Very interesting when I looked outside and saw the water lapping over the sides of the pool!
