Indeed more overhead, and not addressed by the simplistic idiots, who profess to know all and make policy we have to live with...

How she got that degree? Very simple - US college degrees are often not worth the paper they are written on and being a Puerto Rican and a female guaranteed that she was given one of those degrees.

Yes, but, it is worse than that.
With solar and wind generators, even if they were cheap, they do not produce when customers want power.
So, the power company needs back up. The capital costs are there even when power is not being produced.

Running out of states. Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota Colorado, and now Arizona are turning blue. Maybe Galt's Gulch should be somewhere in western Oklahoma.

When I hear someone is escaping from the NE and moving somewhere else I always feel sorry for their new state. They move and take their liberal ideas with them to ruin where they end up.

+10 on that! I hate being asked where I am from even though most of my travel is right up here in the NE. Just a quick Look-See on VT, NH, Conn, Mass, RI and Maine says a lot about why this country is so dysfunctional. If I had to advise any one I would say to get the hell away from the Atlantic and Pacific.

HA! Yes, as much as I think Oregon has the title of most likely to succeed as corrupt, NY does have a significant lead. The sheeple are too well programmed there, the taxes should make real producers run in terror, and they keep on showing up....

    +1, GaryL.

When I travel it's embarrassing to say I'm from The Peoples Republic of NY. Looking to relocate.

Just to throw some actual FACTS in the mix (we had a similar discussion on War Drummers FB page with a woman who lives in Sweden and could not figure out wht our gas is 1.90 and hers is near 6.00) Sweden is such a "green state" and green is a variable denominator:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electri...

They use Nuclear and Hydro, both absolute anathema to any good socialist dumbocrap, so take that away and Sweden lives in the dark age, with about 20% of the power they need available. The largest percentage is Hydro, followed by nuclear.

"In its place, nearly all energy would be produced by renewable sources of power, especially wind and solar." Absolutely unworkable, as We would have to carpet the country with solar cells and then kill all the birds in the air with vegimatic wind turbines (yes there is an environmental impact for wind, that is not well know to the intellectual misfits that like to call it out as the savior of the world). Sweden runs at about 8 cents per KWH, while the US runs at 10. So, throw in nuclear waste disposal and fish killing turbines, and we have a green country that is really really bad for the environment.

The right way the conservatives should fight this kind of sheeple propaganda is to require specific estimates of how much electricity is needed, how much her solar and wind can produce, and the costs of installation (as a wind turbine can cost :
"The costs for a utility scale wind turbine range from about $1.3 million to $2.2 million per MW of nameplate capacity installed. Most of the commercial-scale turbines installed today are 2 MW in size and cost roughly $3-$4 million installed. ")

Now we need 4,137.1 terawatt-hours (TWh) of capacity so that would be 2,068,500 2MW wind turbines. The costs would be:
7,239,750,000,000 dollars at 3.5 million a piece. Ok, cut that in half and hope we can carpet the country in solar panels (they are only about 15% efficient) so that would end up eliminating all the open ground used for agriculture, and wipe out the deserts. Let alone the impact sucking up all that solar energy would have on climate. Oh, yea, what about winter time when snow and rain limits solar and the wind turbines get tuned for minimal flow to prevent overspeeding?

This female is a propagandists dream, perfect for the deep state, and has an IQ in single digits. A perfect politician. She loots, grubs, lies, and has probably all the contracts on her soul she can handle. A perfect piece of corruption, and not even sworn in yet.

I cannot help but think that this hapless little dunce is merely a bit of fluff and a distraction. The proposal is certainly not hers, but she is made to plump up her feathers in its announcement as her own. The content of this mess is so horribly set out ... as if a toddler had proposed that we will put millions to work in the effort to make pastry since everyone likes and deserves cakes and pies. I heard on the radio this AM that Bernie is going to run again in 2020. Goodness I hope so ... then again, I stand on my belief that the POTUS is a puppet post ... so there's Bernie as the puppet.... maybe time to get in on that Galt's Gulch property that I've heard tell about down south there in Chile.

She is a horses ass. There is nothing to be gained and a lot to lose if any of her proposals are adopted

I do think that it would be wise to be independent of the government electrical grid by using solar panels and heating and cutting back on the usage of electricity. Government will mess up the wonders of electricity.

blarman, you whacked that nail right on the head - multiple times, LOL! +1 (more if I could)!

Anyway, I posited a theory elsewhere in the Gulch as to how she got a degree in economics. Simply put IMHO, being "cute Hispanic female" garnered her a degree in Affirmative Action Studies, but that wouldn't fly in the real (non-academic) world so the college has a PC hat to pull degree names out of for just such persons. When it was O-C's turn they reached in and pulled out a sticky with "ECONOMICS" on it and affixed it to her diploma - the appropriate back records are then modified to reflect the pick and off she went.

I think the most telling thing is that this woman supposedly has a degree in Economics from Boston College.
    This tells me the following:
#1 if you are a grad of Boston College in today's age, you learned nothing. If you are a grad from a previous age, you should be disgusted.

(As a side note, I have to question how she got a full degree and remain this stupid. I'm open to ANY - and I do mean ANY - suggestions...)

#2. If you have a degree in Economics, you should be able to do some really basic back-of-napkin kind of calculations and see how tremendously RIDICULOUS these notions are.

#3. If you have a degree in Economics, you really shouldn't be saying things like "economics really isn't my thing."

This woman is a plague on all of womankind. It takes real effort to be this stupid.

This nit wit does not even know the remp is not rising, it is falling, into a mini ice age, and yes, food wjll be an issue, as it already has begun in Australia. See wwww.thelongview.com/au uEurope will not be getting all the grain the once did. This gal better start learning about the sun, which is more powerful in climate change than she and the UN and theri hoaxes.

I can see the results of such a policy clearly. First, the cost would require that we all surrender our salaries and income to the government, while the nation simultaneously borrows/prints more "money" to feed the insatiable beast that this policy would become. Then, we either would be sitting in our homes, shivering in the dark (because renewables are and will remain intermittent for at least the foreseeable future), or sweltering without air conditioning in hot climates. Then, there would be the matter of growing and transporting food without fossil fuels for machinery used to plant, maintain, and harvest crops. Not to mention transporting food supplies beyond short local distances. So, if sufficient food could not be grown in or very near one's own community, many would starve. As mentioned, medical care would be basic and primitive at best; many would suffer and die. Oh, yes, her plan is indeed brilliant: its (not "it's", everyone) result, if implemented, would successfully eliminate much of our population, not to mention the economy. Could this possibly be her goal?
