Something is wrong with the air in California.
“Health officials say that breathing it in is the same as smoking half a pack of cigarettes a day.”

After saying that California forestry practices played no part in the fires, and blaming it on climate change deniers, Governor Brown quietly changed the rules on logging. He increased the size of tree that can be cut without a license, eliminated the requirement to get a license to clear underbrush, and removed a restriction on temporary roads, allowing roads of up to 500' long to support clearing, provided the surface is restored after use.

Of course there was no apology to the President, or admission Trump's criticisms had some merit. Of course Brown's office is being inundated with protests from the same environmentalist idiots that killed logging in California. I expect incoming Governor Newsome to restore the prior restrictions, and maybe even up the ante, so any respite from extreme wildfires will be brief.

Well, at least what burned is in the socialist state of California. I have no interest in California surviving at this point. It is a lost land

I remember the afternoon Trump was sworn in it started to rain here and didn't stop for over a week.
All our reservoirs were replenished and Oroville dam's shortcomings were exposed, etc. I wish he would do that again.

Much of the forest that burned was federally owned national forest under care and custody of the US Forest Service (currently run by Betsy DeVoss?)
I would be glad if much of it was sold or leased to private businesses to manage responsibly and sustainably as a profit making entterprise.

Saw one of those "text 'wildfire' to xxxxx and donate $10 to the red cross" commercials, and had to laugh. Nature is doing what the environmentalists and their laws & rules prevent humans from doing. Having a hard time feeling sorry for them.

when some abstraction owns the land, they can do nothing becasue the taxpayers will pay the damages. I say leave California on its own in this one. No federal funds. If they want help, it should be carefully labelled as from Trump.

Yes! Obviously, if it were privately owned by real individuals, they would be held responsible and forced to pay resolution. But when some abstraction “owns” the land...

And california will want federal money (translation OUR money) to bail them out.

As far as I am concerned, I simply do not care what happens to california with their socialist attitudes and laws. They are on their own as far as I am concerned. And dont steal my money to give it to them.

Its just the smoke from the wildfires they allowed to burn because they didnt tend to the forests they have. Thats the problem with government owned and managed land- they do a terrible job of maintaining their assets.

Government lands should be sold to private individuals and companies, and the proceeds used to reduce the national debt.

I bet if the land was owned privately that the owners would take better care of it.

And all despite the fact that they have the toughest regulatory controls on polluters. Its almost as if regulation doesn't really equate to reality...

Proof that population, not regulation, is the problem.

Me dino caught a snippet about that on either Carlson or Hannity tonight while I was halfway distracted by something else..
Lots and lots of ignored dead trees were mentioned.
As well as fools protecting the environment by turning forests into dry kindling.
