“Sure, people deserve second chances—but not necessarily on the taxpayer dime or in positions of power and authority over people. Alas, this seems to be a lesson that government offices big and small can't seem to learn.

Judges sit on the bench, and impose sentences. When they are found guilty, should they not be held to the same standard?

I don't know that it necessarily has anything to do with being black, in this case. A brutal man in a brutal man, whatever his color.--Excuse me, I'm sorry, I'm afraid I did not get all the details. Sorry!

Jail time is not uniformly prescribed. It’s got a lot to do with political connections

BRUTALLY beating his wife? I read the horrendous details.
Nine months in prison? Me dino would have given him AT LEAST nine years without parole.
Guess laws on the books would not have allowed me to give him 90 years.
Just to be picky, a sentence of a year and a day is supposed to send you to a state prison
instead of a county jail in Alabama, though overcrowding has caused backups.

Wonder how Mayor Jackson explains the murdering of the judge's wife?

The article says "sometimes good people make bad decisions". True.

But the Mayor is black and so is the murderous judge.

    Isn't there a connection?
