I guess my first question is - how do they get the rights to a film adaptation? From Warner Brothers (or whoever owns it). Or from ARI (or whoever owns the rights to AR's books). Does anyone know this guy - will he do it justice?

Guess I didn't really come across for not caring about the Oscars myself.
But more depth of characters? More like real life? Or more importantly, to be true to the novelist's philosophical vision?
To get that from a made during 2018 movie based on a Ayn Rand novel?

Who cares about the Oscars anymore??
More depth of characters needed this time - should not be obvious dweebs from the start - more like real life. Still love the 1947 movie, with its flaws.
Appreciate what it took for AR to get it produced!

There was a play done of Anthem in 2013 which I thought was quite good. There was video taken of it, and some talk of it being released, but I never heard any more.

I drove from Boston to NYC to see it, and listened to an audiobook version of Anthem on the way. It was pretty good and true to the book.

I don't know. Might be kind of good after reading the article: "Given the subject matter and point-of-view of The Fountainhead, it’s perhaps significant that Zack Snyder would choose to tackle this project in the wake of Justice League. Some may see Snyder as a kind of Howard Roark figure, an uncompromising artist who refuses to give in to the safe corporate mentality that seeks to blunt his vision. Certainly, those who still clamor for the Snyder Cut have portrayed the director as such an artist. Interestingly enough, some already read Randian messages into Snyder's films, particularly Man of Steel and Batman V Superman." I am all for getting Objectivism out there if it is a good movie.

Has he actually read the book? I From the Internet, he seems into special effects and R ratings. Not sure what that will transfer into as far as a Rand movie, or if the heart of the philosophy will be overshadowed. I never feel comfortable when Hollywood is involved, they are still liberal and mistakenly think McCarthy was wrong. They certainly got just the mention of a Rand book wrong in "Dirty Dancing.: I cringe every time I hear them mangle the meaning of her book.

There couldn't be a better time to Re-animate Howard Roark. If ever there was a need for the power of the individual versus groupthink that time is now.If Zack can stick to the book and not contribute any of the half - baked ideas permeating Hollywood, then there is a hit in the wings.Look at what happened with Roseanne. With no more than 20 words or so of a conservative nature, the show became a runaway mega-hit. If, however Zackie tries to instill some under-thought philosophy of his own , he might just as well put millions in a pile and set fire to them. It'll save time and grief. We'll hope for the best.

Somehow me dino cannot see a Fountainhead movie that's faithful to the novel getting anywhere near an Oscars show for primping dandies and half-naked starlets with politically correct dump Trump comments at the ready with an award acceptance speech.
Furthermore, this ain't Gary Cooper's Hollywood. No way, Jose!
So me dino predicts that a 2018 remaking of The Fountainhead won't go anywhere near Ayn Rand's version. Nope, not a'tall!
If me dino is wrong like I sometimes for being just a mere mortal lizard, me say that the least that's gonna happen is that Gulchers and those of the same Ayn Rand persuasion shall exit theaters saying, "The book was a lot better."

The problem is Zack Snyder of the Watchmen, 300, and Justice League movies is currently lined up to direct. And if you know his penchant for distorting the original subject matter, I will be very afraid. I am sure the whole individual versus society will become a victim class (gay, black, female, etc.)artist versus the right-wing (oppressor) issue.

Wonder how ultraliberal Hollywood will react if this movie is given the go-ahead. Will some actors/writers/directors refuse to participate, or try to undermine the individualist theme of the book? Ayn Rand's political views are much more well known than when the original movie came out in 1949, and Hollywood's liberal establishment may not be happy about having to deal with a remake.

    From the OP's link:
