The point, as I see it, is that patents don't only protect innovators. They also stifle other innovators. Often this hurts rather than helps the rest of us.

    Hard to do when your primary market is big power plants, but I get your point. Third world plants are interested but getting them to commit to anything but free testing is like pulling teeth (and requires an insider to deal with expected bribes.)

    This is why independent producers, and enablers for them such as Amazon, are changing markets. The trick is to bypass existing cronyist monopolies without creating new ones in their place.

    In some cases today prospective buyers will not even look at your product if you don't have a #$%^&*( patent. Makes selling it very nearly impossible.
