Money as a medium of exchange

I am aware that the point of this forum is to promote a long awaited movie. But I wonder why you would want to use US dollars as the medium of exchange. The US dollar is worth only the paper it is printed on. There is nothing behind it and I would like to propose that since this is Galt's Gulch, gold or silver be the medium of exchange. Shire Silver does a beautiful job creating alternative money and might be far more useful 1st as a symbol, 2nd the silver will continue to climb in price and 3rd, it appears that it would be a useful protest.

paper being backed by silver was a great idea. We should have faught to keep it that way. I don't know if it is possible to go back.

Google Shire Silver. They make it easy as I understand. With the escalation of gold and silver in the marketplace, you could make some decent money. They offer the silver and gold sandwiched in little "credit card" kind of cards but I think they have several different possibilities available. Just sayin'

A sterling idea! But given that it's easier to compromise and deal with unbacked US paper, will you stay true to the concept? If we aim for bullion exchange, what will be the mechanism of transactions? A challenge, to be sure.
