Hey Dobrien the storms in new zealand you commented on months ago- nothing like this irma beast.
I expect Gulchers are more prepared in attitude and supplies than most the population.
Meanwhile sydney australia had 30' celcius today hottest september day on record.

Dobrien, we have a place on the beach in Navarre. We actually spent the weekend there and it was beautiful. Where are your folks?

My son has a house near Leesburg, I was there for Christmas and spent over an hour in the bonus room when that storm went through.

Thanks for posting. It was good information and fascinating to see the predictions and modeling!

Howling wind is OK. Whistling wind means that air is getting into a place you don't want it. I am glad your parents are OK.

I hope your grid is repaired soon, jb.
My friends in Augusta just lost power a couple hours ago and the storm center is still 250 miles away.

Best wishes to you, freedomforall, and Mamaemma! Even after Irma had beaten itself on much of Cuba and Florida before us, being without power and water for 17 hours makes me appreciate John Galt even more!

Thanks, dobrien. Last night was a little scary, but one of those experiences that you'll talk about for the rest of your lives.

Glad to hear that, jb. It could have been much worse if it had gone up the east coast. I hope it weakens enough to spare Mamaemma, too.

Thanks, Dobrien and freedomforall! I'll survive this one. No damage yet, but the worst of the storm is on the other side of the state, and won't be as far north as I am until the middle of tonight into tomorrow AM. Already 8 inches of rain that I have drained from my pool, however!

I am in southwest GA and it's heading straight for us. Forecast is 60 mph winds. I had damage and lost a week of work in January from a tornado. What a year! But I put it in perspective......at least Hillary lost!
