My name is Joshua Bill. I am 14 years old and I possess the mind set of an Objectivist. The first Ayn Rand novel I read was "Anthem"and was intrigued that in the near future government officials could possess the power they do in the book. I then read The Fountainhead and felt a bit of happiness in finding Howard Roarke could keep his individualism. I found my pure enjoyment in Atlas Shrugged when I read it from cover to cover.

That is great. I also read Anthem first, in high school, then Altas Shrugged and The Fountainhead. It is amazing for you to be able to comprehend their meanings at a young age. I suggest you read "The Virtue of Selfishness" to better understand the philosophical outlines of Objectivism.

"Philosophy, who needs it?" was my first exposure to it as my Grandfather an immigrant from norway who was a driver for a wealthy NY family attended a speech given to graduates of the Military academy at west point in 74 told me about a WONDERFUL speech given to the men of the Army that stirred him until his final days. I only found this out in the early 80's when I was considering my HS career and if teh Millitary was something I wanted to be part of. Unfortunately, I chose not to participate but for reasons to persue the avenues of Capitalism!
