5000 character cap on posts

If there is going to be a cap on the amount of characters we can post can we have a counter so we know how much to cut out of what we've written?

    Done. I did it only on posts for now. We'll do it on comments as well if anyone brings it up.

    I can probably get a counter in pretty quick. Let me see what I can do. I know we should do it on both but, were you primarily asking for the counter on posts or comments?

    That's a good suggestion, LS. Thanks for submitting it.
    In the meantime you could compose your responses, especially one that you think might exceed the character limit, in an external text editor that shows you a running count.
