I'm tired of this simplification of Rand's fiction being repeated: "The world Rand depicted, with an upper echelon of makers and an underclass of takers, appears to be fast approaching."

    Yes, the simplification and outright misrepresentation is rampant. For the other to say that the "upper echelon" needs to be taxed to support those displaced by the technological achievments of the "upper echelon" is ludicrous. The ruling class uses taxes as a form of punishment, but it does not increase federal revenue. Their goal is to buy voters by granting victimhood status to in the lower income brackets.
