THE MOST DAMNING AND SENSATIONAL STATEMENT I CAN RECALL ON MEDIA BIAS IN THIS ELECTION

This is about the new PUBLIC EDITOR of the "TIMES," named to watch out for public interests and the public voice, admitting she was appalled at the deluge of comments from the public against "Times" bias against Trump. She went to the top editors to tell them. They rolled their eyes and said, in effect, that is just because we are fair to both sides not just their candidate. At that point, she despaired of the "Times." Read about it.

"The man who never looks into a newspaper
    is better informed than he who reads them;
inasmuch as he who knows nothing is
nearer to the truth than he whose mind
is filled with falsehoods and errors." Thomas Jefferson

I stopped subscribing to the local "fish wrapper" back in the early '90s because it was so biased towards pro-Liberal/Democrat. If a Conservative/Republican made an "oops" it was front page news, if the same did a "wonderful" it was buried in the back pages in a tiny article, if it was mentioned at all. If a Liberal/Democrat made a "wonderful" it was front page news and if same made an "oops" it was buried in the back pages in a tiny article if it was published at all.

Days before an election the editorial staff would print their recommendations and if there were 20 positions you can be reasonably sure they would recommend 19 Liberal/Democrats and 1 Conservative/Republican. The Conservative/Republican in that case, of course, was running unopposed for some reason. They would explain very carefully, if the incumbent was Conservative/Republican, that a new perspective was needed so vote Liberal/Democrat to bring fresh ideas to the office. Likewise, if the incumbent was a Liberal/Democrat, they would explain very carefully why experience was an important factor so vote Liberal/Democrat to maintain the level of know-how in the office.

The "fish wrapper" is still in business today, but it is a thin shadow of what it once was back in the '70s.

During my salad days, now 69-year-old dino became aware of an obvious "liberal slant" in the media before it was mentioned in a journalism class at Troy State University during the early 70s.
"Objectivity" was taught there then. Me dino dunno what's taught there now.
Anyway, that touched upon "liberal slant" has since overwhelmingly devolved into blatant loony libtard corruption.

Being that you're a whole 4 years younger than me, you probably were not active in Barry Goldwater's 1964 campaign for the Presidency. The media bias was just as pronounced then as it is now, but that wasn't obvious to the general public because Lyndon Johnson enjoyed broad popular support (it was less than a year after the Kennedy assassination) and because there was no Internet, and consequently no Wikileaks or social media to give the voters easy access to alternate points of view.

The real catastrophe for the mainstream media will come in one of two forms: either Trump will win in a landslide, or Clinton will win a squeaker, and then be indicted on numerous criminal charges. The first will show how their blind bias so distorted their view that they lied even to themselves. The second will have them vigorously defending a President so legally crippled and opposed that her administration, surviving impeachment in the House and rescued by the Senate just like her husband, will be the most destructive in American history. Either will highlight the fact that the establishment media are the enemy of the people they expect to pay for their drivel.

How or why the media devolved into a voice for "liberals" is beyond my current understanding But I and many others can remember it as far back as the past 60+ years. It has reached the point to date where it no longer tries to disguise its comments with double meanings and euphemisms. It may well be true that the latest crops of so-called journalists don't even see their bias. They take it for granted as a given truth.

National media is the primary enemy of America, they are the primary threat to Constitutional rule of law. Advertising dollars are the lifeblood of media, until we are willing to choke it off, to hold those advertisers in our local markets accountable for supporting the local affiliates and local newspapers, it will only get worse. As with our elected officials, if we are not willing to put in the show up time required, we have no business bitching and moaning about what happens around us, or to us. It`s on us.

What happened to the idea of equal time for on air coverage of candidates/ There was at least a semblance of objectivity. Now, we know what to expect, total liberal views from morons who are willing to write the stories, but do no research. They show HIllary at rallies, saying always she is for protecting women and children, adn when is that going to start? Her husband and Hillary both have been guest at pedophile island, Bill to with what, underage girls, and Hillary to be with what, being bi-sexual, it is not clear. Is that how she looks out for them. Taking money from countries where women are abused slaves. Using horrible suss words to attach females aides. I have two pages of sailor talk all attributed of Hillary berating and swearing at SS agents, law enforcement, pilots, aides, all her underlings, obviously. Dick Morris writes in his recent book how she stopped Bill who had an employee on the floor attacking hi, walked out with the man, and told him, "Bill only does that to people he loves." Is this what she tells Bills raped victims, or the women victims she meets, is this how she protects them. Sound like a woman who is abused and is justiiying, and thus incapable of helping anyone.

You can usually tell if a reporter has a desired outcome and you shouldn't be able to. When the job is to influence rather than inform you are no longer a journalist but have become an advocate and even a propagandist. It is increasingly clear that the MSM is the propaganda arm of the liberal-progressive movement.

I think the "New waves of buyouts and layoffs recently announced by the New York Times, USA Today and the Wall Street Journal mark another step by print media toward extinction", has more to do with Free Enterprise than technology changes. I know of many paper readers that have dropped their subscriptions. Why would anyone want to subscribe to a media source that doesn't report the news, all of the news, and nothing but the news? What really asotounds me is the heads of these companies that are so blind as to realize they are losing customers because of what they refuse to report. Perhaps (if we're lucky) some of our universities will go the way of mainsteam media. Or is it already too late for that?

Thanks for the comments, but two of them indicate that the commentator read the headline but did not go and read the link. Naturally, that's fine, but two points brought up are just what is said in the story.

Former House Speaker and Trump ally Newt Gingrich responded to a question this week from ABC’s Martha Raddatz about whether he really believed an election could be rigged against Trump.

“I think that without the unending one-sided assault of the news media, Trump would be beating Hillary by 15 points,” Gingrich said. “The news media’s one-sidedness is the worst I’ve seen in my lifetime, and I’m old enough that’s a fairly long statement.”
