I was amazed to learn that "100 percent of what is collected is absorbed solely by interest on the federal debt and by Federal Government contributions to transfer payments."
It is no coincidence that the income tax was passed in the same year as the federal reserve act. The banksters required property to secure the loans they create from nothing to fund the fedgov. The people are the property and the security.
"The next question that immediately follows: If not a single function of the federal government is funded by the 'income' tax, how does the government pay the bills they rack up in every bloated budget sent to a president? Every penny is borrowed with the interest slapped on our backs..."
I understand the 'thrust" of this comment: "I was amazed to learn that "100 percent of what is collected is absorbed solely by interest on the federal debt and by Federal Government contributions to transfer payments." because the deficit and defense spending are roughly equal.
Military spending dropped from $652 Billion in FY2014 to $581 Billion in FY 2015
What continually amazes me is those that are otherwise highly knowledgeable about other areas of reality, fail to comprehend what was really accomplished during the first 20 yrs of the 20th century, with the individual Federal Income Tax being only one of the tools applied.
Our Republic was overthrown from within, through the effects of a number of acts of Congress and Amendments including among others: the Income Tax, Senator's popular election, fixing the number of Representatives, the Federal Reserve, and others--the independence, rights, and financial influence of the States, and the attention and loyalty of State citizens to their State was essentially eliminated.
I voice these opinions only to draw the attention of others to the actual perversion done to this country, rather than to the effects of any one single resulting activity. Although the Federal gov't and bureaucracy's malfeasance and financial mismanagement are indeed issues of significant importance, nothing of importance can be done about those issues and many others, unless and until the country's governance is returned to a Republic of States.
None of this would bother you if you subscribed to Modern Monetary Theory... taxes are collected to keep the currency viable and for other social engineering goals. Funding government is done simply by increasing the balance in government accounts (used to be known as printing money.)
On the way to pay the debt, a certain percentage is unaccounted for. The sums are so vast that when a few million are missing here or there no one gets upset and many pockets get lined with cash. The amount of cheating and fraud in Washington by experts and even novices makes most criminals look like pikers. "Boomaly-boom on the big bass drum, Where is the money coming from? It's used in research, children dear, To find ways to increase the tax next year." --- Ogden Nash
"The big revelation by the Times involving 20-year-old documents isn’t quite as earth-shattering as the paper would like you to believe. Lawfully taken deductions can be complicated under the tax code." Regardless of how the money is spent, I think this as an attack on Trump is as bogus as any attack on someone who uses deductions and gov't services that are legally allowed. If they don't like a tax deduction or a loophole, their problem is with the tax code. All law-abiding citizens can do is pay what's required and use legal loopholes and deductions where allowed. With all the bizarre things Trump says, I don't get his critics' latching on to him deducting a business loss.
The people are the property and the security.
