With P.R. Problems, and the people leaving, why not transform it to a gulch state? It's already semi-autonomous from the US.

    Debt holders? Who, the banksters or the US fedgov (who are controlled by the banksters)? Oh yes, that's just peachy. Turn PR into a Manhattan corruption look-a-like.
    Cuba would be a better choice.

    Think regentrification. The 3million residents, living there, are leaving.
    Prop values will drop.
    Keep an eye on it. See what congress decides to do. If we bail them out, I agree with you - no go. But if they simply restructure their debt...they'll never tighten their belt enough to clear that debt. Actually, all the debt holders should just foreclose on them - repossess the island. First privately owned state.

    It is a looters paradise and the residents won't give it up any more than NY or Mass will. Why would you choose a US territory that is already enslaved to the fedgov?
