it would be no different than driving under a short mid-town tunnel. Yes you're right, exit ramps could cause traffic delays and accidents.

I would be afraid ever to drive under that thing. How much warning are the cars underneath going to get before it turns?

looks like another looney tune idea probably sponsored by some agency of government with our money.
    it will never take hold.

I had thought of that. A route of travel perhaps but they also had the use of the medieval siege engines but black powder cannon. They understood bridging and engineering of all kinds and had studied the various types of governments and cultures and religions.

Only the lack of a single purpose single minded and leader 'of the blood' could cause such an exchange. I did like Mongke's way of ridding himself of bureaucrats.

    This is what I posted.

I read some history on this a while back, while weather may have influenced the halt of Mongolian conquest of Europe, a power struggle among the Khans back in Asia caused forward progress to stop and pull back.

All things considered, the Mongols weren't likely to be swayed by thirst when Europe offered so much more to offer than drink.

the whoosh when they pass under a bridge would be
a real thrill -- go stand on a bridge and drop down

with computer control, these things might even
drive on current interstates with 15 foot lanes,
without the addition of rails. . drivers would need
to learn to handle their presence, though! -- j

Wow I missed that? I just received a copy of Iggulden's Conqueror it's a favorite part of history for me. That deserves to be a movie as well made as the last one. Very happy they kept Seffie Seagull out of it. Has to be the least believable and worst excuse for an actor in existence. Steven Segal for those of you who are wondering what he h??ll.

Old Genghis ran a tight ship. The Scourge and Flail of God as his Muslim citizens called him are what's needed to clean up that part of the world again. Shame Obumbler doesn't have the class nor the balls.

Right away I imagined a nervous driver being startled by the sudden appearance of a large shadowy object overhead and swerving into a vehicle beside him and/or slamming on the brakes to be rear-ended.
Old Dino hates to admit it, but the majority of such drivers would highly likely be senior citizens.

So the next thing is a "bus" that carries cars on top.

A simpler, less costly solution is to have dedicated bus lanes walled off from the rest of traffic. Entry gates for buses and emergency vehicles with the right encrypted signal. No power lines, no new vehicles needed.

Tremendous photo and does it have it's own synched traffic lights to assist vehicles down under.?

Even better the source ScienceAlert.com led me to a second article on why the Mongol Hordes didn't finish whacking out Europe in the form of a weather study from tree rings and then a third article on foods that aren't what you think.
sciencealert.com is now on my top bar along with House Of Sunny and a few other internet goodies like intellicast.com and thanks for a triple barreled tip!

Can you imagine that behemoth behind you, creeping up and then sliding over you? EEK! What if you get under the damn thing and it keeps pace with you and you're stuck under it? How about when you want to change lanes? The claustrophobia factor alone would cause traffic to pile up behind it because a car would refuse to drive under it.

It should be taller to clear RV's and semi's and wider to spread out over all lanes of traffic as cars constantly change lanes. But it looks very cool!

Just one problem with that bus-on-stilts: it rides on a fixed track. The motorists below simply must maintain lane discipline, or that bus will stop cold. Traffic police and other first responders must clear accidents immediately. In fact it's worth equipping an accident-first-response team with one of those big buses on stilts with an onboard crane, to act as a combination wrecker and rescue vehicle.

That'll work so long as there are no jerks that straddle the breakdown lane.

if they allow it to load vehicles it would reduce freeway traffic and perhaps remove the need for passenger rail systems.
