The thing that bothered me the most in the article is the same thing that bothers me when watching TV. They are the Democrat Party not the Democratic Party. This country is governed under Democratic principals. By calling them the Democratic party, it confuses and misrepresents their beliefs. Being socialist in nature, Democrats are the opposite of Democratic!!!

Very enlightening article. What the president and his party is doing will stifle America. Just as it is happening in Russia right now. The Az Republic (despite being a leftist newspaper) reported in the Sunday edition that young Russian entrepreneurs and those who ambitious are leaving their homeland due to the Putin's harsh regime plus the state controlled banks refusal to lend money. The only way that we could do a little better is what Stossels' guest said on his program the other night: (paraphrased) That technology, computer, internet and associated areas will grow faster than the gov't can compensate. I hope that's true!

Thank you. Az Republic? I take it that you are also in Phoenix (can't imagine anyone outside Phoenix making any effort to read that fish wrap). Perhaps sometime, if your interested, we can meet up for coffee to chat

Hey AJ, I live in Sedona but I wouldn't mind driving down sometime to Phoenix area for a meet up. My wife likes getting the Sunday edition of the Republic for the coupons and employment section.

Well written AJ. The only thought I could add is that Marxism is a religion whose adherents exhibit the same faith and fidelity to Marx's ideas as Christians do to the teachings of Jesus or Muslims to Mohammed's ideas expressed in his Koran. As such, trying to employ reason with BO and the Democrats ans the Progressives is bound to fail. Our only hope lies in convincing enough Americans that the ideas expressed by the founding fathers, Any Rand, and we in the Gulch are the only way to regain the paradise on Earth that America was in its infancy.

Great summary, and in fairness to the Jesuits and in a non-religious , non metaphysical framework they hammered in to my soft matter was that "you can never put logic where it does not belong" and "you can never reason to a mind that does not think".
This assumed you have a "well ordered mind and the education to support it". AR is the education along with our founding Fathers who provided the arena to live it.

As a longtime friend of mine that has since passed on once told me one night straight to the point that "there's nothing wrong with a little socialism in our government". The hair on my neck stood up and I was dumbfounded. I could not believe his words, but here in Michigan anything goes when it comes to what the unions insist on. Well I guess considering what Detroit has become he must have known something more than I. Then again it has become a cesspool. I hear more and more folks now wondering "why they voted the way they did". I tip my John Galt coffee cup to them and they ask that most infamous question "Who's John Galt" and I reply "You are part of that problem". Some get angry. Some just ignore it. To all of those who have enlightened me here in the Gulch " I tip my cup to you".

Thanks. There was much more I could say but I was given essentially 24 hours to turn something in.

        Great piece, thank you!
        I like your "cancerous" description.
When I lived under the communist regime, it occurred to me that their social system is to human society analogous to what the cancer is to living tissue. Just as cancer degenerates the fundamental processes of life, so does the communism (socialism, progressivism etc. are just alternate labels cynically intended to obfuscate and mislead) degenerate all the basic processes of human society: family, education, personal interactions, economic activity, justice and governmental power.
Sorry, I just had to show how much I agree with your using that term.
        Again, thank you.
