Just because we could, doesn't mean we should

Ventura takes someone to task for mislabeling Sanders as a Communist rather than a Socialist and ends the comment by saying if we weren't involved in the wars we could pay for everything Sanders is proposing.
I won't even go into the feasibility of being able to have a balanced budget with Sanders's utopic programs, but instead I will just say, even if the country could pay for them and have a balanced budget, should they be paying for those programs? What is the moral justification that Sanders, or Clinton or anyone else uses to take from one man for the sake of another? And what is with the trend of holding certain European countries out as being somehow better than Capitalism (as opposed to the sudo-Captialism we have here in the US)?

I wasn't referring to you with the ad-hominem bit. My post was referencing @MichaelAarethun with respect to the ad-hominem. The fact is that there has been no case that distinctly defines "natural born citizen" though there are cases that call into question the status of one who is born in the US of a single US parent and one who is a foreigner. The fact remains though that the framers used Vattel's work when crafting the constitution, the term was understood at that time, widely so, and Cruz does not meet the definition.

I don't use the tactic of ad hominem. As to the
case, I don't remember the name; I heard about itonly on radio, and, I admit, that was from Cruz. ButI have heard nothing from anyone finding fault with that case, or disputing, specifically, that particular ruling. It seems it had something to do with his mother being an American citizen.

Please site the court case where they have defined Natural Born Citizen to include born on foreign soil with one parent who is not a citizen because I don't know which one it is. And while you are at it, see if you can refrain from ad hominems.

You should really look into his background more and his ties to the Bush family. You are being duped. The only reason he is a senator in Texas right now is because the guy he ran against (Dewhurst) was worse. I say this as one who was duped and voted for him.

I hope Cruz becomes the nominee. I voted for
him already in the Virginia primary. He is not ideal,
but I consider him the best alternative available.
(As to his being born in Canada, I believe that the
Court already determined that he was "natural-
    born", for all that).

How long has it been since we've had a true businessman run this country? The mindset to run a successful business is different than if you are working a government job. Of all of these career politicians, they have the mindset of working a non-profit so it doesn't matter how much they spend, they'll just do another fundraiser (change tax rates) if they have to. The problem is that the government is SO out of control. We should have put into the constitution limits on how much of the GDP the government can be, or at the least, a requirement that the government cannot exceed the gross receipts of tax revenue. With so many candidates offering so much to so many, we have ended up with the government we deserve because we have allowed half the country to have one hand out and a ballot in the other.

Even if we could provide everything Sanders is promising without undue indebtedness, establishing an even stronger entitlement culture will destroy what vestige of self reliance, ingenuity, and will for liberty that remains in our weakened republic. Does that say "NO" strongly enough?

    Actually, socialism still enslaves man by force;
with the power of the police to back up the vote,
it is still enslavement by force. (It is a little less
brazen than Communism, but essentially amounts
    to the same thing).

Man has the right to be free. Government is force;its justification is to protect man (includes woman &child) against force (including fraud) and violence, and to punish same. Anything not related to this function is not part of the proper function of government, and is not something the government should do

I don't like Trump, and I strongly hope he does not become the Republican nominee. But
I would still prefer him over Hillary Clinton or
    Bernie Sanders.

No one, except arms manufacturers and maybe the Rothschilds, actually want "war"
But defense of the free individual against a tyrannical bully may be justification. I argue that even if we did pull all armed forces back into US land or territory, we would not be able to offset the altruistic costs of wiping the noses of our common man. Our social security obligations dwarf the national defense budget. The free college costs will surpass this same budget by itself. The invisible predator Ventura obviously refuses to see is the cost placed on ones spirit when others steal from his life; With the approval of 50% of the population. Is Ventura an "idiot"? Maybe...or maybe he just wants to be a member of "Team Loot"

Vladimir Lenin said, "The goal of socialism is communism." Ventura is sadly lacking in brain cells. There was an interesting letter to the editor in the Daytona News-Journal last week written by Jim Reavis of Ormond Beach. I think that he was quoting Ayn Rand. "There is no difference between communism and socialism, except in the means of achieving the same ultimate end: communism proposes to enslave men by force, socialism - by vote. It is merely the difference between murder and suicide." This is what Crazy Bernie wants for the country and unfortunately he has too many gullible followers.

Jesse (The Body) Ventura is an idiot. However, he talks idiocy so sincerely, and convincingly, that people actually think he's making sense. He's making exactly the same kind of sense as when he was a 2nd tier pro wrestler. None. If I need to read or listen to something preposterous, I'll read or listen to Ogden Nash.

Jesse... who? Oh yeah... the wrestler that got elected.

OK, seriously, he's correct. Makes me wonder when they stopped teaching government and civics and Political Science in High School... That's like calling Bernie's opponent a National Socialist (in the old German sense)...

Hmmm... wait a minute. Something flawed with that argument... --grins--
