Bburrrr. lol We've been in the UP region once years ago in the winter for a wedding. It was incredibly beautiful, but for this old guy with arthritis, it wasn't my most enjoyable week, LOL. Other that that trip and a summer drive up the L. Michigan coast, we've not been there much.

It's a real shame that your beautiful state had to be saddled with Detroit. We don't really claim Chicago as a part of our state and I imagine, you guys up there feel much the same.

If you every get down this way, let me know and I'll arrange a little trigger time for all. Best wishes.

We just never know when we'll be needing a bit of backup. The most I've ever needed to do was to rest my hand on the pistol grip. That has universal meaning I guess.

I'm glad that worked out for you Herb.

    Don't be a victim? Ain't gonna happen.
I may be old, hobbling around on a cane, and looking like I can't defend myself, but I can. A few months ago, I was using my wife's mini van. She's an Avon lady and has Avon signs all over the vehicle. As I headed for the van in the parking lot a scruffy fellow asked me for a light as I was getting into the van. The oldest trick in the world. I guess he saw the Avon signs and figured on a woman, an easy mark. I told him just a minute I'll see if I have one, and I lifted up my shirt displaying my S&W 38 snub. I noticed he had a cigarette in one hand and a jackknife in the other. He was smart enough to know not to bring a knife to a gun fight. I won't usually carry, but for some reason I did that night. I live in a small town where you can pretty much go anywhere without fear, but something told me to take my little friend. I guess my time isn't due quite yet. The hands did shake a bit as I drove home.

Herb - when the gang showed up to break John Galt out of Dr. Ferris's fun house, they went armed. Francisco stood on a rooftop defending the Reardon Steel foundry against the bad guys. I pretty certain that if those folks AR wrote about were real, they'd spend time at the range.

It sorta goes along with what we discussed the other day. Be vigilant. Be ready. And if harm comes your way, be the one going home. Don't be the victim laying cold and dead on the pavement.

You just reminded me, I gotta get back to the firing range, I'm probably getting rusty.
Hmmm. John Galt with a firearm ... I like it.

That AR15 has a 24" bull barrel (1" diameter) Rock River upper and lower receivers, Lewis Machine barrel shroud, Magpug Furniture including their sniper buttstock, Timney Trigger, Millot Scope (4.6x25x60mm 35mm tube for low light use) and much more. Even on a sloppy day like yesterday, it can put 10 bullets in a 1 1/2 circle at 300 yards and is my weapon of choice when a local rancher has ground hog problems.

I built 2 of these last year, one for my son and one for me. In a typical year I'll build 6 to ten AR's, but these two with these Lewis Machine barrels are the best shooting I have ever built.

I don't care what you weigh, as long as you can aim straight!
