I didn't want to hijack the post about black mobs terrorizing Victoria's Secret.

Some assume that if the mobsters went to church or put god and Jesus first this wouldn't happen. I disagree.

Let the flame throwing begin.

if the mobsters went to church or put God and Jesus first this wouldn't happen.

The former doesn't equate to the latter. And the latter DOES mean this wouldn't happen.

What, you never, ever met anyone who talked the talk, but didn't walk the walk? There are no hypocrites in your world?

On the contrary. I am surrounded by people who talk the talk, constantly shoot bible bullets at me, have callouses on their knees, but do not walk the walk.

In the other post it was suggested that if those kids were taught to put god and Jesus first they wouldn't be acting like hooligans. I was showing that isn't necessarily true. I'd say that priests, nuns and lay church workers are putting god and Jesus first.

Your point would be? Putting on a cop's uniform doesn't make me a cop; nor, according to the historic record, does it impart fealty for the law in a police officer. And you know this.

Were not talking about you dressing up like a policeman right now so don't change the subject. How did it continue to go on for so long in a religious run entity? Are you denying hypocracy in religion now? Or that pedophilia is hidden and covered up and transferred and was not dealt with opening and honestly by men of the cloth for how many decades or centuries? Doesn't seem very honest or christian like to me. This is what Jesus was murdered for? The sins of these men? Will they still get to go the Heaven?

                Been eating lead chips lately?

You keep insisting upon equating apples and oranges.

NOBODY IN THIS CONVERSATION SAID that being a Catholic gets you into heaven. The reference was to Jesus and God, NOT to a religious.

Religious institutions are run by men, not gods.

And you damned well know it, you're just being perverse.

As being a peter-puffer is a ticket to hell to begin with according to most traditional Christian sects, I highly doubt their religious convictions to begin with.

As for them getting into heaven, I don't know; if they truly repent their sins, then yes.

You, and those who argue like you, always seem to forget that little requirement.
I don't forget it. I reject it. I do not recognize it.
And you just swore at me so you better start repenting... plus you said "peterpuffer".
I live my life for me and mine... You've become a waste of my time. lol Heaven Schmeaven.

Plugging your fingers in your ears and shouting "La la la!" doesn't make the reality go away.

A true objectivist lives his life for himself... not for "mine".

You reject the requirement of the Christian religion that, to be forgiven for a sin, one must sincerely repent. You've never done anything wrong (translation; you refuse to condemn yourself for any bad things you've actually done in your life), so you have no familiarity with the feeling of true repentance, evidently.

Yes, I said "peter puffer". I'm no longer giving tacit approval of a particular sexual perversion that promotes the progressive agenda. I'm going to treat it with the contempt it deserves until its practitioners acknowledge their illness.

After all, we're talking about homosexual predators hiding in the cloth in order to prey on helpless children of the same sex. That the institution attempted to protect itself from the fallout of their behavior they *chose* to engage in is not the issue. Their sexual deviancy should be.
I have children and elderly parents...if I chose to live my days to assure they're taken care of that's my choice to do so. Nothing non-objectivist about that, free will, free choice...no one is coercing me to do it. Speaking of coercing...you can't coerce me so stop with this repenting junk. If I make a mistake I say I'm sorry, do what I have to do to fix it and make it right and move on with life. I don't beat myself up and threaten myself with eternal damnation. I learn from my mistakes and don't make them again.
I don't care if you or anyone else puffs a peter. that's your personal business and choice so long as it's consensual. (ps children cannot consent no matter what your warped priests try to tell you.)
I am not plugging me ears or denying reality. I do not live based on faith in something that may or may not be there, and doesn't make logical sense to begin with.
I'm going to say this one more time.. I grew up in a very religious home...I'm familiar of all of your shenanigans... and I'm not afraid of your high horse position... and your horse kind of smells and you lack control.

                        *my* warped priests?

You grew up in a very religious home, and very obviously are resentful of Christianity as a result.

I don't care how you grew up. I'm arguing with your bigoted, willful ignorance.

Let's try this example; your free will allows you to have unprotected sex with whomever you desire. Common sense tells you this is pretty stupid. I repeatedly tell you that you're going to regret banging everything with a pulse, sooner or later... *but I don't do a thing to stop you, I just try to warn you*. That, my dear, is NOT compulsion, it's concern.

So you go and bang everything that gets hard, and you end up with AIDS. And then condemn ME for trying to warn you and tell you how to avoid getting AIDS.

Maybe whatever cult you belonged to as a child focused on damnation rather than salvation; don't really care, but they were wrong.

Children cannot consent. Boy, I agree with you... so when an 18 year old boy has sex with his 17 year old girlfriend who's in-between her menses... that's rape, cause she can't give consent, right?

A 37 year old moron (IQ = 60) can give consent, because she's no longer a child, chronologically, right?

There's a reason throughout history men tried getting their daughters mated as soon as they started bleeding, and it had little to do with rape.

However, I never suggested that the victims of the homosexuals hiding in the cloth gave consent. My position is that the homosexuals insincerely used subterfuge and stealth to indulge their appetites. That they did so bears no weight on Christianity or Christian beliefs. I can say I'm a hippopotamus ballerina... doesn't make it so.

You have no reason to be afraid of me or my position, unless you're afraid of reality.

I disagree in that his comments do not reveal him to be religious in any way, shape, or form. He is rude, judgmental, and personally insulting to others. While one may easily conclude that he is a homophobe from the things that he has posted, it has nothing to do with religion. He is simply an example of the intolerance hatred that exists on both sides if the religion debate. He does not speak for, or represent all of those who are religious.

This should be printed, matted and framed with "OH MY GOD!" at the top.
Proof of not being able to stay on topic, address the issues being discussed, and turning a conversation into a personal bash fest.
Adios.

Humans are imperfect. Even those that aspire to be the best that they can be are flawed.
Unfortunately, some of those with flaws had them in areas which caused harm to continue even though they thought that what they were doing was "in the greater good."
Does not mean that I can overlook the harm (evil) that was done, but I can put into context and try to rework the organization so that it cannot happen again. Unfortunately, all organizations are comprised of people and people are not without flaws.

Wow...you just cuted up some heinous behaviors committed by adults. "Flaws" "Which caused harm to continue". These are evil bastards who have no business being around children year after year after year. Which then gets covered up by and even "Higher" and closer to God "man of the cloth". THEY "caused the harm to continue". The evil bastards from top to bottom who turned a blind eye, or transferred them to somewhere else "where the harm could continue" AGAIN.
"Rework the organization so that the it cannot happen again". What? Why did they not go to jail??? Why did the higher men of cloth not out them immediately and lock them up?? Talk about evil. Cahoots. Christian cronyism. Abuse of power, taking advantage of the innocent, repeatedly. You're trying to make excuses and make it less evil than it is to save face even now. Gross.

Not at all. I prayed that those responsible would have been held accountable. There's a difference between what I would like to have happened, and what I can make happen. I can help to change things so that this is less likely to occur in the future.
I make no excuses for the failings of these people. They should have had an accounting on this earth, but alas, our laws are such that that did not happen. Other than my taking on the cloak of vengeance, what would you ask of me?
You can tilt at windmills, I choose to try to make my organization a better place for now and the future.
You seem to want to 1) Proclaim that someone who calls themselves a religious leader cannot have human failings, 2) Pronounce that an organization that has imperfect people must therefore be itself imperfect, 3) Lay those imperfection at my feet, 4) Chastise me for seeking to make things better seemingly because I didn't prevent past atrocities.

No...blame the people in charge who knew and should have screamed the truth the instant they knew the truth. You don't pray that someone is held accountable you make sure they are held accountable, by outing them! It's despicable that men who call themselves holy would not do that. "All it takes for evil to thrive is for good men to do nothing." (And praying IS doing nothing...if there's a god he already knows it, your prayer isn't telling him anything he doesn't already know).
These are evil men in holy cloaks. Stop skirting around the obvious. The church has hidden evil in it's midst ON PURPOSE. And your trying to make excuses for it and change the subject by saying I'm trying to hold you personally responsible. Stick to the issue, THAT'S what I ask of you.

I don't disagree that they should have been held accountable - and for those that can still be held accountable, they should be.
You charge me with the responsibility for doing something in a system whereby I have no authority. I have spoken out to church leaders, but I will not turn away from something merely because of human failing.

I don't "charge" you with anything. I'm merely pointing out that you choose to stick to something that I chose to turn away from. And calling the abuse of children a "human failing" is inexcusable in my un-religious, logical opinion. It's the lowest of low...it is evil...and covering it up is even lower still. All in the house of the lord too.

So, somebody dings me for saying that I believe that those who committed wrongs should be held accountable?
You call yourselves persons of reason, but you are all but reasonable.

No, it is your responsibility for telling me what you deem me to have said that is irrational or unreasonable. To ding me and then not justify the action is irrational. You claim to be rational and logical, well back it up.
Never have I backed away from my rationale, whether you or others here agree or like it. I think that I deserve the same courtesy.
If you want to ding me, state your rationale for doing so.
