A good analysis of the situation. This is something not much discussed, but is really something coming to a peak soon. It will be back, whether in this town or another.

Estonia does not look foolish. When women talk to me about the difficulty of a 100lb woman fighting off a 200lb rapist I point out that said would be rapist would not want to pick up a 10lb enraged housecat with his bare hands. You do not have to be more dangerous than the 200lb man...just more dangerous than a 10lb cat.
Estonia has shown its willingness to fight against its invaders. This is commendable, not foolish. The rapist may decide to go after someone less proud.

Agreed, good analysis. The only way I see stopping Putin is to supply Europe with Nat Gas. That would take the US increasing production, which O and his greenie cronies will never accept. Thus, we can probably just say good bye to the Baltics and likely, as identified in the article, NATO overall. What good is a treaty organization which fails to uphold its promises to each other?

Nat.gas: Good point about O and the greenies.
For years a company has been working on
starting a gas import/export on the Westcoast.
CA does not want it and now Oregon's greens
are fighting against it also. The leader for the
local greens is rumored to get $ 30,000 a year
from the Sierra Club to lead this Nay-saying.
(Before that they ruined the timber industry.)

Yes, thre is a difference between responsible stewardship and outright nuttiness. Living in Oregon I can say that they will cut their legs off to save a tree, even if the tree burns up next summer due to no logging. They prefer "natural" destruction to "man made destruction" and other zany keywords. Their zoning rules are even more bizarre with the marks of special interest groups laying all over everything to the point they are totally unenforceable.

Well, part of that is that natural gas isn't leaping from the ground anymore. No matter what you think of fracking, it ain't cheap. When Russia has to frack to get natural gas, the US will be in a lot more viable position to sell at a profit

I'm intrigued that you picked a story to post on little known Estonia. Kas te raagite eesti keelt?

    =)

I thought I'd provide you the perspective from an Estonian point of view: BLUF (Bottom Line Up Front) They aren't too worried about Russia.

One last phrase you should know: Kaks olut palun ~ 2 beers please.

Don't know about nickursis, but as for me...
Ma ei oska eesti keelt üldse. Aga ma saan kasutada Google Translate sama palju kui keegi teine.

As Estonian is not an Indo-European language I have no way of knowing whether any of that is correct.

the defense minister may not be as confident as he sounds, I would say, if it takes more than 3 days to receive air support. yet, 2 beers can always go well with defense planning ... after a successful exercise! -- LtCol (ret), USAF

You do have to be impressed by his outlook and demeanor. I would say he could qualify as a 10lb, maybe a 15lb cat. he is correct in having the NATO link Ukraine did not. Ukraine just had some silly piece of paper from the west promising support. We all know how well that work with Chamberlain and Britain in 1938.

yessir, at least if he called 911, someone would take him seriously! I just fervently wish that our U.S. populace paid attention to our "going back on our word" as often as we currently do -- whether in federal laws or international promises.

Thank You for the post!! -- j
