    Freedom of speech apparently is only for rappers.
    I happened to turn on the TV several months ago as Ellen was welcoming her guest Ludacris. I am not a fan of either but Ludacris was there to promote his new album and Ellen said "I really like what your saying here" as she held up the new CD. I went online to read the lyrics and was shocked the n-word was in the lyrics of the first song 8 times in the first 12 lines also talking about murder and hoes and bitches and it was absolutely putrid. In todays society that $h-t makes him a multi millionaire.

      Yes, it is the arrogance and stupidity of all the groups that want special treatment ONLY when they want it. If they beat their wives, it's ok, but if you do, you go to jail. Our society is built on a schism of morality that says each little group can do what it wants, and oh by the way, the majority must both agree, endorse and found it. Nope. I do not feel sorry for this woman, I just found it incredibly ironic that she was so stupid not to think the wolves would turn on her too. Arrogant idiots, the lot.

        Nick, I agree and don't feel sorry for her at all. She is just another gutless white teacher who didn't properly tow the line while genuflecting and groveling to her PC masters. Looks like the crocodile she was feeding turned and ate her!

        The "check your white privilege" mantra is a race card industry bromide used by its proponents to extort and intimidate innocent and naive white people into some form of submission to the goals of said industry.

        Oddly, the article also notes she is being roasted for saying some students dropped out because they are failing and that statement is immediately translated by the PC mob to "people of color are failing". Well, what about the non-white Asian people who are on average excelling academically? How does the PC color obsessed crowd deal with that?

    PC is the bane of free speech. I even remember the big deal made when the word "niggardly" was used. It is a word with no relation to race whatsoever, but was offending those with no vocabulary to speak of, and I.Q.s below 70.

          I suppose the biggest problem is the ignorant have the least ability to evaluate who they should follow. As we know from recent history charisma does not require a knowledge base. Ignorant "leaders" with charisma have large collections of followers who hope for change (to what? well, we don't know how to think that far.)

            Exactly the issue in politics today. Cruz is as charismatic as an enema, and Trump is what comes out. Rubio is like a teen just learning what the middle finger means and Bernie is a senile old farty curmudgeon, and HillaryBeast is the evil criminal mastermind. Not much charisma there...

    Schools of higher learning should be places where one is safe TO to say controversial and thought provoking things. It should not be a place where students (skulls full of mush) are free FROM the demands OF thinking and challenging.

      Yep, at least Private ones have an incentive to have some sort of quality. Public ones can be runny monkey diarrhea and still get all the money they want to waste.Now they want free stools, not even some pretense of having to pay their own way too...

      We'll only be free of political correctness when the courts overturn (1) the Dept. of Education's "Dear Colleague" letter; (2) the so-called "sexual harassment in the workplace" law; and (3) all so-called civil rights laws that contain the phrase or concept of "disparate impact". And even then it will remain urgently necessary to make sure SJWs never manage to infiltrate any organization we care about keeping.

        In the meantime I just don't care about being politically correct any more. And I stay away from situations that demand it. I may get into trouble but I just don't care anymore

      Depends John, they are so insular in the education empire, it is almost a seperate creature. Even the law and constitution have no meaning except what THEY give it. There was a case of a conservative speaker in California last week who the "enlightened" students rioted, ripped down his posters, blocked the entrances to the building (except for one) and generally made it impossible for him to speak. Yet when a bunch of rioters screaming Black lives matter" burn a town, the cops stand by. This irregular interpretation of freedom and personal liberty and rights is my fuse...burning fast too..

        The student "protests" at Cal State Univ Los Angeles were instigated by professors at the university. One of the professors was personally ripping down the posters and threatening the students posting them. The professor and students were protesting a lecture to be presented by Ben Shapiro discussing the stupidity of campus safe spaces and the erosion of freedom of speech on college campuses. Gotta love irony..

          I just find it ironic how they celebrate "free speech" and protest "for rights" until it is something they do not approve of, then the fascist hats come out. They are as hypocritical as any despotic tyrant there has been. That particular item really pissed me off, as the California elite have been the prime movers of "free speech" crap for the last 50 years or so. That professor should be indicted by the Justice Department for violating the students civil rights as well as Shapiros.

    Professors need freedom to say controversial things. What she said does not even sound controversial. It's more like quoting the f-word gratuitously. That's bad form in a formal setting, but no big deal.

    And at one time that word was a word for the "COLOR" black...
    But, like all things liberal progressive...the meaning of that word was co-opted to mean something entirely different.
    With 25% of slave owners being black themselves and the south being self aggrandizing as a whole...might have that word and not necessarily it's intent caught on within society.
    Now we have the left...deeply in guilt for their transgressions waving the proverbial fingers at the rest of us when they themselves created the problem.

    The targets of treatment like this often protest it as a violation of tenure, but tenure is part of the problem and should not exist. For every good teacher whom tenure somewhat protects, it saves a dozen Melissa Clicks from their just deserts.

    I've read some of the comments here and I'm wondering why your criticising this woman, Has any one bothered to look up the meaning of the word " Nigger"? It's shortened form the word "Negro" which is the name of a race of people, We know that this word has become an insult like a lot of other words where the original meaning has been changed, Do we now have to refer to a dictionary before we speak? Bring back free speech

      It's also the name of a classic piece of literature called the Nigger of the Narcissus and referred to a thief. as for dictionary use a pre 1980 edition or it will be all PC and do you no good.

      I am thinking the criticism is for the entire system, as system that actually legalizes and promotes classes that need to define and illustrate "micro inequities" and other assorted BS. The to see the wolves turn on one of their own, is illustrative of the predatory nature of those who would manipulate and twist free speech to their own meaning, irregardless of the truth or even reality. Much as Black Lives Matter started as a small group of people trying to actually raise the issue in a specific area with some specific police departments, was hijacked into a media circus, and the term became a twisted meaning of what they meant from the beginning.

              The next scheduled disaster is the payments due on the money borrowed to fund the current debt increase. Call it Great Recession II. Once the debt repudiation and deflated value becomes known you will have all the huge disaster you need.

              There's no avoiding it. The T Bill debt must be paid in full or the world will quit buying them at any price or offer. The money owed to the elderly and the retirees can be sliced and dice all they wish to chop it up. There is no protection.
