"Ayn Rand on Human Nature"

    Oh, that poor guy. This quote from his article, "At the “higher stages” of this process (meaning humans) evolution changed course so that members of our species were born with a blank slate, though she provides no evidence to support this. Human beings therefore have no innate “social instincts”–elsewhere she refers to it as a “herd-instinct”–that is, except for “primordial savages” and “inferior men” who could be considered missing links in the scale of nature."

    The author of that article represents the old way of collectivism. He is writing for Scientific American in an attempt to preserve the collectivism of the past. He is stunned that Rand had her own opinions, and a high opinion of herself, as though that were a bad thing. He quoted many references in his article as if to say, "my opinions are more important than Rand's because more people agree with me." Yet a million people can be wrong, and only one right.
