Trigger trained cops - this is the result of shoot if in doubt training

When police are trained to shoot if they suspect a problem, this is what happens. It's also why people begin to fear police, even honest people can become targets by mistake.

He fired 9 rounds and only had one hit. had he been a better shot, the old guy would be dead. Sure he's upset, but does that give a kid his grandpa back if he'd been a better shot?

Who is the public servant? Who is a serf? IF the LEO is a public servant, then the citizen should be given deference. IF the LEO is a tool of his employer and the old man is just a serf, you have a whole different attitude.

But is it the citizen's obligation to know how to deal with a cop, or is it the cop's.

I guess in today's world, it's the citizen's if he doesn't want to be shot during a minor traffic violation stop.

Yeah, he should sue and he's got action available against both the county and the deputy. That cane didn't look much like shotgun to me watching the tape.

You never know. Taking a shot in the gut tends to make most people a little upset.

To be honest, had that old guy really been intent on shooting the deputy, he most likely would have, he had plenty of time and the kid couldn't hit the broad side of a barn - thankfully for the vet.

He did everything wrong. Sure the old guy should never have gotten out of the truck, but he's old. When I was young, we were told to go meet the cop so that he could see you were not some hood. Things have changed, now everybody is seen as a hood, but when was the last time the old guy was pulled over? I haven't been in 31 years! It could happen today, but I'm very aware of what to do and what not to do. Was this guy? Doesn't look like to me.

Listen to them telling the deputy, you did what you had to do, you did the right thing.

What bullish*t. Take their guns away and give them squirt daisies.
