It is no wonder the average person has no idea what is going on.

    It's up! It's down!
Who is the winner? I think it's the referee.

The Wall Street Journal didn't adjust for the extra sales days in December this year. When the adjustments are made the sales were disappointing.

I suspect that one is talking about car sales within the US and the other about worldwide sales by US auto companies. Probably in that order.

Sales dude is not the sales dude they are front line shills that guide you into predetermined routes.

I did it differently. I looked at the sticker and the blue book figured my best offer subtracted 30% and after a test drive with a stop by my mechanics locaton made an offer. BUT up front I asked point blank you make the deal? As soon as they said they had to get approval from the back room I gave them the M2F salute and said....you work commission don't you? Explain zero to your wife tonight.

If they upped the price I would counter bid lower. Drove them up the wall.

I bought my last three cars using that method. It was fun!

I think Trump would be the one guy who would fire an appointee who did not perform up to high standards. Bullshit him and firing would not be your only problem.

I took some statistics in college and I remember my professor saying he can make stats say what he wants them to say. You are absolutely right about seeing the data and making up your own mind.

It's not easy. I do realize that the government almost always lies. Frustrating when the press helps out.

Initially I had only seen the WSJ article. I almost fell for it but I knew something was wrong. Glad i saw this analysis.

Just more proof that you need to see the data to pass judgment on a statistical assertion.

Michael Bloomberg is such a wack job I would have expected them to misreport the numbers. Getting harder and harder to get the truth.

I dont read either of them. Too many hidden agendas and misinformation designed to make me do one thing or another.

This may explain the unprecedented salesperson antics at a Honda dealership the last time I brought my 2013 Fit for an oil change.
I'm sitting in the waiting room with a bunch of people when this giddy blonde appears with some kinda paperwork in hand and asks, "Is Mr. Allosaurus ("different lizard") here?"
She asks if I was interested in trading cars.
Being kinda bored despite my paperback novel and liking the company of a pretty blonde (despite her seeming a bit eccentric and way too young for me) I said I'll go look.
She handed me over to a sales guy. Crud!
He showed me a couple of brand new cars before I stated that I might be interested in seeing used cars one year old.
He said, "I thought you told Miss What's Her Name you were interested in a brand new car for the same monthly payment."
    I said, "No, I didn't."
I wound back up in the waiting area but only had to wait like two minutes before I was told my car was ready.
At least I was not bored during all that silly business.

The Wall Street Journal is populated by government employees it appears. Yesterday it was Barone stepping up 6 years after the decline in trade. The auto industry has been slow for months and Bloomberg has it right. the journal with their government employees must do as all governments do put on a positive face regardless of reality.

like the Fed...much media print is dishonest...you need multiple sources and then piece it together yourself...not an easy thing...

I think the press was taken over by the progressives before the government was. It was an easier takeover and it worked at getting them into the government. Sadly it's been going on a long time.

I thought the government was bad. One of the tools we had against government was freedom of the press. The press is just as bad now.
