Strauss begins with an outline of five strategies: traditional sovereignty, a ship at sea, litigating for margin, vonu (dropping out, even in plain sight), and creating your own "model nation" (like a model railroad). After that, he devotes about 100 pages to thumbnail histories of many recent ventures, some of them well-known to libertarians and Objectivists. (If you wonder why Ayn Rand had to denounce a "Fountainhead Hotel" you will find some of that here.)

My opinion is that wanting to start your own country - Galt's Gulch of some kind - is like wanting to be a civil engineer, but more complicated. You just cannot start designing bridges with no prior art. This book will help you understand the parameters of the task.
