An emotional Obama unveils his plan to cut gun violence

More roundabout legislation, the thing they left out was mention of the little caveat he added that if you are on Social Security and deemed unable to manage your finances, you cannot buy a gun. While that may make sense, since in those cases someone else is in charge of managing their finances, the real issue is the abuse by those people, which they do not address. More band aids and bubblegum on a dysfunctioanl system.

Oh, yes, that is true. Most people probably do not have any "gun sense" at all, given that there is no real training. I went to high school and we had a rifle team, and there used to be lots of free gun classes. Now you have to pay for them and most people have been indoctrinated "guns are bad". So they rarely seem to know where the bullet exits.

While not due process, I think a lot of it is putting someones personal information out in a public jury is not good for anyone. On top of that, they can't do the trials they have in anything under years and years. It should be based on some medical definitions, and then have an appeal provision (i.e. prove you are not crazy). While I support gun rights, I also support common sense, and some of the drugs they give out legally, as well as illegally, cause people to become very irrational, and a gun is the last thing they need to have. But individual rights, as well as their impact on others, needs to be paramount.

While Archie was portrayed as some sort of bumbling conservative stooge, he was really just a basic MK1 Mod 0 American. Most people looked down on him but did not realize a large number of Americans from 40's-60's were like that. He was goodhearted, but had limited education, and looked at things in a basic, what was fair way. The writers made him seem a lot worse than his character was. Although issuing guns to everyone on a plane at start, and picking them up at end, may seem like a simple answer, all the body parts from nimrods shooting themselves would make a mess.:)

Here is a somewhat different article in NYT, it seems to indicate even they have no real faith this is anything but theatre. Interesting is when you look at their graphics they clearly show people react negatively (by buying many more guns) either when the Obamanation is elected, or he does one of these stunts. The other one shows timelines for some of the most nasty cases and they are littered with his government failing to make the systems in place work right. We don't need his bully pulpit, they just need to actually do what the law says and make their systems work.

Prof, indeed, true. The issue is much more complex than gun show loop holes, an easy favorite of the Dems. Where do the gangs in Chicago get all their guns and bullets? Surely not at the gunshow on the waterfront, but the back trunk of a car, or a brown bag delivery. They speak in their exposition about how bad the penalties are for going around the current laws, yet that does not seem to bother the real criminal set. If they cannot enforce and apply all the current laws, all the EOs in the world will not change anything. Go after the outliers before the mainstream, and get better results.

Randy, here is the actual text of what they want, in some ways it does make sense, it is not as reported.:

Although States generally report criminal history information to NICS, many continue to report little information about individuals who are prohibited by Federal law from possessing or receiving a gun for specific mental health reasons. Some State officials raised concerns about whether such reporting would be precluded by the Privacy Rule issued under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). Today, the Department of Health and Human Services issued a final rule expressly permitting certain HIPAA covered entities to provide to the NICS limited demographic and other necessary information about these individuals.

The actual text of what they are doing is at:
    https://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-...

While I do not believe anything I see from our government any more, at least we should see what they are really saying, since the media is generally not worth spit, either, anymore.

Actually Randy, I saw that in one article and have not been able to find the substance of his EO. My interpretation of that was such people were to liable to be mislead or used as cover by unscrupulous relatives or some-such nonsense. One thing I am sure of, they will never be able to confiscate the huge number of guns in this country, but his meager screwey efforts could allow the people who really should not be near one "Chicago black gangs" easier access than they have now. He is a total and absolute failure, fake tears and all.

Exactly what I was thinking, the incredible arrogant ignorance of reality, and manipulation of events for their own good is so blatant one has wonder what is really going on. "Black Lives Matter" until we get to the gun question, then it's all about making sure other people can't get through loopholes, and never addressing where the real killers are getting their from. Probably because that would require some competent police work and investigation, vice hot button labels and artificial tears.

Well, it's only Wednesday but those crocodile tears on the front page of the WSJ force me to declare a winner for this week...... Barry cried-Atlas Puked.
Atlas Puked Award-APA going forward. I think I may declare him a permanent -maybe the life time achievement APA holder so I can give other deserving looters and moochers a crack at it.

Didn't Obama kind of remind you of Bill Clinton at the Ron Brown memorial service when he was laughing until he notice that the camera was on him, and then he wiped a tear away?

At this point, no serious person can deny exactly who & what obama is. What I keyed on were the media writers, refusing to ask the obvious follow up question after every station in the Nation ran the clip of our hero wiping tears while saying " yes, it happens every day in Chicago..." The logical follow up - "Mr. President, Chicago has some of the toughest gun laws in the Nation, along with one of the highest murder rates, as does Washington,DC. What, specifically, will new regulations do to stop that? " Not one of several nightly news shows asked. THAT is the true enemy.

7 Years. 7 years he's been in office. How many tears were shed for our troops at Ft Hood. None. The beyond brave in Bengazi. zero. I could go on but that would be pointless. His time as POTUS has been a series of half truths and outright lies, made possible by the dumbing of America by our Leftist education system and a compliant news media. How these people can look at themselves in the mirror each morning escapes me. If we can't get a "real" person in the White House in the upcoming election....I'm afraid this could be the end of a brave and noble experiment in government for and by the people. Hey Barry, don't forget your prayer mat when you pack your things next January. Thanks for listening.rjk

The only way to get rid of "gun violence" is to get rid of people.

"I believe in the Second Amendment, it's written right there on the paper," Obama said.

The number of lies that man has told is approaching Avagadro's number! Even Bill Clinton missed that one by several orders of magnitude.

By the way, how do you get on the "no-fly list"? Any law enforcement official or political elected can pretty much submit an email to the FBI and you will be on there. It's why certain Republicans have fought that so hard, because it can easily become an "enemies list".

    nickursis,
Obama's restriction on the Social Security "victims" had nothing to do with finances...his insinuation is that if you are unable to balance a checkbook, that you lack the mental capacity to own a handgun.
He is doing the very same thing to the Nation's veterans who fought, valiantly, to uphold the very right to "keep and bear arms".
Please don't be fooled by the Leftist propaganda.

States like California already take guns away based on this expanded definition of mental illness. And that is wrong. It should require a jury to take away someone's guns or any other civil right. Anything less is not due process.

In typical liberal-progressive fashion Obama tries to treat the symptoms rather than the disease. In fact he refuses to recognize the disease. One must question the underlying reasons for his actions. Is he simply an incompetent fool or is he something far worse.

Every law or regulation should have a caveat printed with it telling of the side effects, just like medication. In many cases, the side effects are worse than what the medications help. A new law's side effects might be listed as: Might cause loss of freedom. Might cause others to falsely accuse and incarcerate you. Might prohibit your enjoyment of of life and your pursuit of happiness. Of course, that will never happen, but it should be what's going on in your mind every time you read about a new law.

It is not a plan to halt gun violence! To the contrary, it is a plan to further enslave the American population by further destroying our Constitutional protections. Don't listen to his words but greatly fear what his actions are really about. This fascist dictator has no clothes!
