Ideally, the actor playing John Galt in Atlas Shrugged Part 3 will appear to have jumped right off of the pages of Atlas Shrugged. However, in our quest to find the perfect John Galt, some tough choices may have to be made. That's where you come in.

If you had to choose, which would you consider the number one priority in casting John Galt?

A. As long as the actor looks and acts like John Galt, I don't care what his personal beliefs are.
B. The actor needs to possess a deep understanding of, and passion for, Ayn Rand's ideas first and foremost.

Galt does have the charisma, an inner strength an honesty, and a confidence that make him sexy.

I wish Jsu Garcia had the look for John Gault he had the presence sensuality and confidence John Gault will need. I have racked my brain for an actor that can pull it off and I keep thinking of John Schnieder but he might be a little old for the part. Stick with someone that can bring the passion that Jsu Garcia brought and you have him. He has to be the kind of guy a women wants to surrender to because he acts as a man that treats women like he wants to take care of them.

Another example of the fundamentally suicidal approach you folks are taking to the trilogy. "Should we preach only to the choir, or should we preach only to the choir?" "Preach only to the choir!" And then, when Part III sinks without a trace, it's back to "blame the liberals."

I agree that Jim Caviezel has to be #1 choice, based on quality of acting, appearance, basic philosophy. He has a stoic, self assured demeanor that fits the role.

Oh- and Please- ENOUGH of the calls for Gary Sinese and Jim Caviezel. Galt is the IDEAL MAN. He is an Adonis. Jim and Gary, as fine of actors as they may be, are NOT. Trust me, as an appreciator of fine man-flesh, Aaron Eckhart is the man for the role. Yes, I know the producers can't afford him, but a girl (especially one who has waited 20 years for a movie to come out) can only hope they will see the light.

Too bad Clint Eastwood is in his 80's... Do NOT pick Tom Hanks, please. Would Harrison Ford do the role justice?

It seems lots of folks have mistaken John Galt for a six-pack. Ayn didn't describe him as gorgeous, but as serene and at peace. I just never pictured him as a self-absorbed weight lifter looking dude.

He needs to look like a regular guy would look who was totally at peace with himself.

I honestly think if we case anyone who is "known," that it will be a disservice to the part. John is mysterious and unknown -- the actor playing the part needs to be as well.

Forget the "acting ability" argument I've seen college productions with actors as good as hollyweird's a-list.

None of the hollyweird elite, irrespective of their theoretical "acting ability" will deliver one ounce of credibility to the part.

John Wayne tough! I'm a Bill Whittle fan, might be too young.

Go back and watch The Shield. The development of David Rees Snell of Ronnie from a back bencher to the co-lead in the last few episodes is one of the best characters on the past 10 years.
He had a great turn in The Unit as well. If we want this movie to be a moderate success, acting and writing will have to rule the day.
And we have to go pack the theatres.

The role should go to an actor is a believer in the limited role of government. Ken Wahl would be my first choice.

    No apologies needed here!

He is seen helping Dagny out of her plane crash, and although he is in a shadow, there is no mistaking his racial origin.

So sorry. Must plead ignorance. I haven't yet seen part 2. Didn't know that John Galt had already made an appearance.

Even though that is against the novel as written, it might have been OK if done from Part 1.

As of now, we have two parts 'in the can', and there is NO way that the part can take such a radical shift. Nothing would be believable....

You know, if you think outside the box a little, you might expand the audience, and interest in the movie. Why does John Galt have to be a white guy? How about Denzel Washington for the part, or is he is too old, maybe Shemar Moore?

Dittos on Gary Sinese. He is the absolute first one to come to my mind. I actually can't even think of anyone else quite so suited to this role.
