    Why do you think the data is botched? Simply because the article is published in the LA Times?

    If you click on the line of text where it says "new research" in the opening paragraph, it links to the actual data, which was collected by the Pew Research Center. All the LA Times did was regurgitate the information in the form of an article.

    I think that the poll the LA Times did is biased as of course most of them are going to agree with bigger government because that is the way most of the LA Times reader base is leaning. I felt that this article was interesting though as we can see that the biased media is now using botched data to prove their points.

    I think the source may be somewhat biased as far as political and religious views are concerned. If the Weekly Standard published this data I would be less skeptical.
