We are cordially inviting all Objectivists and admirers of Ayn Rand’s philosophy to join us as we celebrate the official launch of the Maryland Objectivist Society (MOS) in Baltimore, MD! At our launch event, you’ll have the chance to learn about MOS, our purpose and capabilities, and how you can have a voice in deciding what we do. And there will be great food, intelligent conversation, and the company of rational individuals to make the event even more of a success! We look forward to celebrating with you and sharing with you how your support can help MOS to keep the Lights of the West shining!

I checked - I can't tell the location of the people who purchase tickets. However, I will reach out to people to see if we can organize car pools. I'll keep you informed.

It would be great to connect all Objectivists in the state! Building an effective network is a goal of MOS. I know for a fact that there are more Objectivists in Baltimore than I personally acquainted with. There is a core group of active members, but there are many more people who join us once in a while, mainly for socials (i.e. drinking).

Sure, that makes sense. It would be fun if eventually everyone from the DC-Balt area was able to connect. Is everyone in the Balt area already acquainted ?

No, I didn't. I decided to publish it as a public announcement for now. I will run the search and send personal invitations closer to the date of the invent if I see that we are not getting the 20 people I'm aiming for. However, at the rate the tickets are selling, I don't think it'll be a problem.

Not really defeatist. More a recognition of the lack of true morality in what has become a "rule of the mob" democracy. Election of Hillary is almost guaranteed, and that will seal the demise of the country. The tide seems to favor socialism at everybturn

You take care of Chavita and the rest of his - shall we say - peculiar coterie of light loafered flocklettes. We'll take care of the home front.

No, it's cronyism at its worst. In many cases you can't even open a business without paying off the inspectors, or someone in licensing. And if you rub one of the inspectors the wrong way, you've got years of having to toe the line with their ridiculous and often illegal regulations. Ex: "You can't cook food in this bar - it's too close to the road." But there are food trucks all over the island that cook right ON the road all the time. Barbary Coast is long gone, but the Greenhouse will likely be here forever.

It sounds like a lot more fun than the old group the dissolution of which was very very painful. Old wounds have healed, I suppose, with the deaths of both Rand and now Branden. Celebrate their ideas.

My friends and I are clearly of a different opinion. However, we are about to put your hypothesis to the test.

waste of time except for some social interaction. The rest of your lives will be spent in a country slowly deteriorating, as in AS. Unfortunately. Wait till the tides are going out before trying to keep them from coming in. From the looks of it, people on this forum hate Donald Trump, even though he is the only one who could possibly beat Hillary.

Nice idea, but its way too late. This country is doomed to descend into socialism until it gets BAD enough that enough people will question the philosophy behind it. Thats not going to happen anytime soon. Look at Venezuela- how much worse than THAT does it have to get before they see the light.

Promoting Objectivism is like trying to keep the tides from coming in. One would be better off waiting for the tides to start going out before acting.

Yes, I have signed up. I look forward to meeting you and the others. I'd love to get more folks out this way to get involved. Since MoCo is the ATM of the state and all....

I lived in Commiefornia for 60 years. Now I live in the People's Republic of Oregon. But I live East of the Cascades where people are a little more Objective.

Hey, I used to live in St Ths VI too ! ( a long time ago, before I paid much attention to politics) But I'll bet you that the business owners have a good chance of being more aware, at least. Barbary Coast and The Greenhouse still there ?? :)

Thank you! There are a few good spots: the Inner Harbor, Mount Vernon, Federal Hill, Fells Point, etc. I'd be glad to show you around should you visit Baltimore again.
