Laid back doesn't benefit Cadillac, so they reinforce their image as reward for hard work. Not my choice of reward, but as you say, it's a possible choice for those who can afford it.

Agreed. The long term issue is the capital required for building generation source and distribution network. Better to convert that coal into easy to transport high energy liquid fuel. Its coming if the energy companies don't destroy the inventors and bury the technology. Power corrupts, and people in corporations are no more immune than people in government. There are a lot of Jim Taggarts, and very few (if any) Henry Reardens.

Sure, when they're ready. It's a city car at this point, and with all the coal fire plants being shut down, and can't use our own gas and oil, it still remains to be seen if they will ever be cost effective.

Don't hold anything against electric vehicles. They are innovation at work before our eyes. To hell with the eco-mumbo jumbo and the push to get them to market well before their time. When the tech finally does stand on its own, meaning it works as well as or better than carbon fuel vehicles (or hydrogen for that matter), it will be a remarkable achievement - provided we don't have to pay a fortune to recharge ($9.00 for a florescent light bulb?).
