Really, sometimes you just have to wonder at the greatness of the government planning system and why anyone would ever think they could run our lives.

+42 Excellent story Michael and I can understand and sympathize with all of it. You just summed up the entire issue with government, nicely. When I retired, I went to Intel and make chips, and that level of communication and understanding is prevelant in a large company as well, only it is internal. People do something for their little world and do not understand the impact on everyone else. That is why I started to get Six Sigma Lean certified, at least I can consult in my old age and have the tools to show them how idiotic some of their ideas and processes are. You would need a completely incomprehensible spaghetti chart to show your case, with so many disconnected players all impacting the process. 95% of which would be labeled as "WASTE, Non Value Added".

One day everything east of the cascades is going to fall in the Atlantic Ocean. We will all take trips to the Colorado Islands and glass bottom boat the skyscrapers of NYC and LA/SF

But where's the money for the payoffs, rakeoffs, bribes, that's city, county state and unions??? the important stuff. How long can it be stretched out? I remember Seattle spending a billion or so before one shovel of dirt was turned and then started over. where's the greed, crime, corruption involved in doing something? seattle boston and pretty soon your talking real money!

Not to mention those idiotically placed stadiums.

Or shutting down all the freeways so Gore could visit Seattle right during rush hour

    Or

    Or

    Or

    does it ever end?

I worked on the fibre optics installation City Center to the North on 101 to Edmonds. The drilling company spent more time complying than working although it was 24 -7 for months. Typical day City guy iyou can't route the traffic around you that way. Stop. Change the bypass route. OK Countyguy you can't route the traffic.....state guy....you can't......city guy who told you to route this that way? "Your Boss. Here's his card wanna call her?" One dark rainy night just north of the big bridge over the ship canal a car pulls up and stops blocking the traffic. City Commissioner. 'don't you know this is dangerous?" "Yes so what and you are making it worse big deal no one gives a expletive deleted." That was me. Well she did do something all of a sudden trucks showed up with all sorts of lights and safety stuff. The rest just interfered. i usually ignored them and routed traffic the safe way. I could always blame it on the 'other government guy or gal. That cost the drilling companyat least two months and put us into the rainy season. Expletive Deleted on them ...and we were working 12 to 16 a day but not at Davis Bacon wages. Regular real local wages. somehow that job got past without federal money.... So...Yes I agree with what you said. Been there done that.

The union? That was Local 440. Not once tried to get us to sign up. They cared nothing for the bulk of the working class in construction. Expletive deleted them too.

Rant over. it's four am I'm going back to sleep.

I used to live on the Olympic Peninsula and was on a submarine in Bangor. Many times had to drive around to Seattle for some reason, or take the Ferry. Both wer not good options, but the I5 mess from Tacoma to Seattle got worse every year. The last time I went up there about 5 years or so ago it was as bad as anything I had seen in Portland. Proof that the Govt plan to box us all into a small controllable area sucks wind. China just seems to go exponentially stupider and bigger.

Thought you were talking about Seattle Tacoma from 4AM until 9PM Best way to drive north or south is time it to pass those areas and Portland between midnight and four or on Friday or Saturday two am and four if it's.

You got it! I think it illustrates the virtues of a Communist/Socialist/Government ran program. Bigger is better, until.....Portland I205 looks like this a lot, just avoid it between 2PM and 8pm or 4am to 9am and you will be ok. If you have to go to the airport, leave real, real early.
