    The author neglects to look at his own roll in forming the 'crisis' he faces and worries about. Get psychologists and social workers as far away from education and childhood development as possible.

    systemic is the response of the universities as wringing their hand over the perceived "problem" the students exhibit. add to that, Psychology Today, which places so much prominence on emotions as a valid source of knowledge. NO good answers will come from this article.

    Simple. Don't treat children like eggs until they are 21. It's starting to reach a critical point where the younger generations want to change this though so I have hope.

    By the time the kids get to college, the pattern is too ingrained. This is a result of the culture that gives everyone a trophy so that no one gets hurt feelings.

    My wife and I often remark that kids today have no capacity to "suck it up". I don't know what they will do if they are faced with real hardships like most of our parents and grands faced during the depression.
