This One Is Going To Bring Some Comments: Apparently One Of Our Ancestors Was A Pig

The hidden evolutionary relationship between pigs and primates revealed by genome-wide study of transposable elements

"It has not escaped our attention that many readers of physorg who may have availed themselves of our previous coverage of the human hybrid origins theory, and a later follow up report, might come to premature conclusions here. With that in mind, I talked the creator of the hybrid origins theory, Eugene McCarthy, to get his take on this new research. He had this to say:
"People have been congratulating me on this SINE study as if it somehow proved the hybrid theory of human origins. That's nice of them, but it's just one run in a nine-inning game. True, it does show that pigs are more closely related to primates than has generally been thought, which in turn suggests that a hybrid cross between pig and chimpanzee is more feasible than many have supposed. But to establish whether we're actually descendants of an ancient cross between pig and chimpanzee, will require a detailed search of the human genome, not just a study of SINEs. I've explained the relevant issues in a recent rebuttal of some of the most common criticisms of the hybrid theory. It's not as simple as some people like to think.""

You really need to check this out: http://www.macroevolution.net/index.h...

Apparently, when women call men 'pigs', there may be some truth there.

If you think Darwin's Theory of Evolution caused an uproar, you aint seen nothing yet.
Step right up Ladies and Gents, just take a peek behind the curtain.

We did not have "zero tolerance" back then either.
I've been known to write something I stole from a Birmingham News editorial I read several years, which is: "Zero tolerance = zero common sense."

Chimps may turn out to be the result of a cross between a pig and turkey, but a conservative cannot mate with a liberal - interspecies mating is not possible!

Perhaps slightly off the original topic, but related to intelligence then and now: some 30 years ago I was sitting outside in a cafe in Greenwich Village in NY with a friend. We decided to play a joke on the waitress and sprinkled some Sweet and Lo in little neat rows, making it look like coke. The waitress, as she was passing, just told us to sweep that Sweet and Lo off the table. Fast forward 30 years - a little Muslim jerk plays a joke on his teachers with a disassembled clock in a briefcase - and not one of them is capable of figuring out, even under close inspection, that it is nothing more than a disassembled clock - no detonator, no explosive, no shrapnel - nada! It would seem to be self-evident that a waitress of 30 years ago was more intelligent than a school full of teachers today.

Ah, perhaps also that swine require a lot of WATER daily, thus PERHAPS not the best food source to bring along on your nomadic DESERT travels?

The cause-and-effect latency of trichinosis just MIGHT be a bit too long for even some of those Ancients to figure out, y'know?

You're right. Looks like old dino has mentioned his age enough times.
I used the word "one" due to recalled experience with a distinct minority of teachers who were educated beyond their capacity.
This was also during the late 60s and early 70s in the Deep South before radicals among students had time to become the radical professors we hear about now. .

If you're basing this on the observed intelligence, I would venture to say that they were smarter back then...

There's just so many corollaries we can draw from this. And most are going to be funny as hell.

Interesting, although I will always consider new research but I have been on a different trail. Now this subject is not my forte; just the same, like many things it interests me.
It would seem the Humans might be a completely different species than anything even remotely similar. It's also pretty clear that inter-species evolution doesn't happen but inner-species evolution does...ex. 4 different blood types in the human species. Also, to be fair, it is possible and maybe even probable that our genealogy was messed with.
Some of these thoughts and studies come from credible sources however, because it is still considered 'Fringe' I haven''t fully vetted it out and resources are scarce and questionable.
If I ever get through the process, I will share.

Sorry if I have teased you with unvetted info.
Thought you would enjoy an opposing view.

That was an out-and-out guffaw. My wife came into my office to find out what I was laughing at.

It really is complex and getting more so. I've been involved with evolution for over 50 years and the real discoveries are just beginning as we begin to apply the laws of non-equilibrium thermodynamics to the energetics of life. This nut has to explain why there are no human Shepard sheep hybrids. Or human dog hybrids. I love the pig humor but this guy is nuts.

I've always thought of bacon as one of the major food groups. Had a remote cousin for breakfast as a matter of fact.

    Hello Zenphamy,
Pigs and chimpanzees are genetically similar to humans, but it is all relative. On the other hand... No wonder so many want to eat from the government trough... :)

    Respectfully,
    O.A.

As this is a matter of scientific inquiry I don't see why comments, except the expected jokes and cute remarks, are all that likely.
