Clapper's actions are those of a criminal and a traitor.
More evidence that Edward Snowden was right.

I just saw this thread for the first time so this is a couple of days late. There is a good deal of insider politics going on over this NSA scandal which few are aware of. Clapper is definitely on the wrong side. Security expert Bruce Schneier has been following some of this and he is definitely worth reading. This is much bigger issue than what the lack of media coverage suggests. Edward Snowden absolutely was right and I feel badly for him that he is till holed up in Russia because his courageous acts to expose the scandal have had not resulted in the exposure he had a right to expect. Unfortunately there are conservatives who are defending the NSA abuse and who are still out for Snowden's throat.

Thanks for posting this. Two paragraphs stood out for me. When in 2013 Clapper told Congress that the NSA does not collect any type of data at all on millions of Americans:

“... a year later, Edward Snowden, when asked in a TV interview why he blew the whistle, said, ‘Sort of the breaking point was seeing the Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper, directly lie under oath to Congress. ... Seeing that really meant for me there was no going back.’”

The other paragraph was about Iraq’s alleged threat to the U.S.:

“In 2003, Clapper ... tried to explain the absence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq by claiming they had been moved before American troops showed up. ... even his superior said [this] had no supporting evidence.”

One wonders why this post got voted down when the original post did not.

It might be that the voting feature of this forum is being abused, that instead of voting on posts some people are voting on the poster. If they don't like his post at one place, they go everywhere and vote him down.

“Vote, vote, vote the man down.” – sung by a paranoid seaman.

Who do you claim "goes everywhere" to down vote a person whose post he doesn't like and what is your evidence? We saw that behavior by a leftist is now gone over a year ago, and in a recent emotional outburst of mudslinging by Eudamonia suppressing posts but it was restricted within one or two threads and doesn't seem to be typical even of him. Who do you think is doing this "everywhere"?

Mark, there are a couple of posters around, and one in particular, who seem to be almost rabid about having every one toe the line of their own version of objectivist orthodoxy, and they tend to spew vitriol when they perceive someone may disagree. For some reason, they apparently believe this point system is a means of control of some kind.

Pay them no never mind, as my grandmother was fond of saying.

Who in particular are you accusing of being "almost rabid about having every one toe the line of their own version of objectivist orthodoxy, and they tend to spew vitriol when they perceive someone may disagree", what "orthodoxy" are you talking about, and what is the evidence of your accusations?
