I'm Dr. Rand Paul, devoted husband and father, senator from Kentucky, and 2016 United States presidential candidate.

I’m proud to be here in Galt’s Gulch with you today and will be back at 4PM ET to provide answers to your questions.

Representative Rick Nolan is planning to introduce legislation that keeps congress from getting paid during a gov. shutdown. I support this in theory but I can see it encouraging members of congress rushing bad budgets through just so they can get paid. I would like to get your thoughts on this proposal.

    Dr. Rand Paul,

What will you do if elected president to get other politicians to change their attitude from managing the decline of America (as a lot are there to do that) to bringing America back to being prosperous?

    Dr. Paul,

In your opinion, what political positions do you hold that make you different from your father and do you view these policy positions as an advantage?

    Dr. Paul,

How do you stay motivated to "fight the good fight" in terms of libertarian values when the American people and media are forcing candidates to represent themselves to be either democrats or republicans when neither idea fits the mold?

The Supreme Court is supposed to be a co-equal branch, if not the smallest, not the final word. Which decisions will you ignore, nullify, or otherwise render ineffective if you become President?

Facebook groups in support you like to speculate who would be good choices to work in your administration (VP, AG, etc.). I would personally like to see someone like Judge Napalitano as Attorney General. Are there any potential key players you would like to see in your administration?

Are we ever going to help the ethnic Assyrian Christians by providing them weapons and training to defeat isis, and other Islamic militants. All we here is "support the kurds" "train moderate muslims" we need to change our foreign policy by finally helping the innocent and protect the ancient people the Assyrians.

    Dr. Paul,
On many social media networks Bernie Sanders seems to have used internet activism at levels formerly reserved for your father's campaign. How do you intend to counter the socialist agenda and rebuild the liberty movement's activist base?

Dr. Paul, If you were POTUS would you re-look at the Ross Ulbricht case? He was the man behind the silk road and got life in prison without parole.

Hello Dr. Rand! I would like to know why you are pro free trade rather than pro fair trade. Could you elaborate please. Thank you very much for this opportunity to ask you questions! #ISTANDWITHRAND

How do you plan to win the vote of myself and other libertarians who feel you have watered down your father's message (particularly on foreign policy, especially the Iran deal), and also the message that won you your senate seat?

    Dr. Paul,
Thank you for all that you do to ensure our freedom, rights and liberties are protected as laid out in the constitution. My question... young people everywhere are starting to clue into politics more and more so how do you plan on addressing issues that matter to us?
Issue#1, higher education and student debt

I would reduce the cost of tuition by stopping the government from making billions in profit each year off of student loans! There is no reason that the federal government should be capitalizing off of our hardworking students and families. If we want our children to be able to afford college, the government will need to get out of the student loan business and it will need to get out now!

Saddling graduates with thousands of dollars in student loan debt without accountability is irresponsible on the part of the federal government. My proposal would help reduce the long-term debt that recent graduates face from taking out more than they can afford in student loans and paying high interest rates on top of it. I would give them the option of making tuition or loan payments more affordable, which would make college more accessible. This would apply to both rich and poor as long as they earn a paycheck and have a tax return at some point in their life, due to the lifetime carry forward provision.

While increased enrollment is one of the reasons for the increasing cost of college, it is not the only reason. The more important factor is increasing government intervention. As public funding and regulations have increased, so too has cost of college attendance. To put it into perspective, the public investment in higher education in America today is 10 times higher than it was in 1960. Military spending, for example, is only 1.8 times higher than 1960 levels, adjusted for inflation.
