I'm Dr. Rand Paul, devoted husband and father, senator from Kentucky, and 2016 United States presidential candidate.

I am running for president to return our country to the principles of liberty and limited government. I am an advocate of a balanced budget amendment, term limits, and privacy reform. I’m proud to be here in Galt’s Gulch with you today and will be back at 4PM ET to provide answers to your questions.

Ask me anything.

I love Italian food! Spaghetti with extra mushrooms.

I listen to all kinds of music from Rush to Country music.

When I do have down time, I enjoy mowing my grass on my lawnmower. Enjoy gardening too.

I also enjoy reading, love a good Ayn Rand novel! Anyone here ever read Ayn Rand?

What is your strategy for reducing government to it's fundamental nature. Are you going to articulate why government has no business in business and why taxation is theft?

Why would you not force monsanto to properly label the food they sell to citizens....I thought you were all about transparency...i think transparency is most especially important when you are talking about corporations that are as large as governments...while i do advocate for the right of small businesses to be left to their own devices, don't you think large corporations should be treated more like mini-governments when it comes to transparency?

Thank you for your reply. While I hope that Dr. Paul responds to this, your response speaks to my question in itself. Cruz seemed to be Rand's right hand man after his March 2013 filibuster, and witnessed the publicity and popularity Rand gained from defending 5th Amendment rights. He then launched a much more publicized filibuster over Obamacare, which shot Cruz to the top of the pack. When Donald Trump gained popularity, Cruz seemed to disconnect himself from Rand and became more friendly to Trump saying "he's a good guy" and he's happy to have him in the race, as well as partnering up with him during the Iran rally recently. That's what I mean. I personally see Cruz as a remora. Unwilling to take risks until he sees its politically advantageous and will distance himself from those that aren't.

In regards to McConnell, it makes no difference what Mitch promised or lied about. TPA was unconstitutional in plain language as it removed the 2/3rds majority requirement for the Senate to approve treaties, and removed the power from the Senate to amend treaties. This means, that if you remove McConnell and his promise regarding the ExIm bank altogether, Cruz would have likely still supported the unconstitutional TPA

As President, I vow to uphold our entire Bill of Rights, including our right to bear arms. I will not support any proposed gun control law which would limit the right to gun ownership by those who are responsible, law-abiding citizens. Overzealous laws are making it tough for men and women who seek to lawfully protect themselves. In the White House, I will remain vigilant in the fight against infringements on our Second Amendment rights.

I believe that every American has a constitutionally guaranteed right to privacy which must be protected. We need to collect more information on terrorists and less on innocent Americans. I have fought for several years now to end the invasive and illegal spying of the NSA on ordinary Americans. As president, on Day One, I will immediately end this unconstitutional surveillance!

Why are term limits necessary, though? Why can't the electorate just vote in new people? If a congressional member is good, like your father, why would we want to limit his ability to make an impact?

Dr Paul, your father had a lot of success with a very simple policy proposal: No Taxes on Tips. As I'm sure you'll recall this was a proposal which said that servers should keep what they earn, specifically the tips that they earned should not be taxed. Do you think that implementing this proposal, at a time when the minimum wage discussion is so prominent on the national political stage, might be a tactic/proposal you would consider pushing to the forefront of your campaign?

We need more jobs here. There are even more unemployed than the news is admitting and the ones I know unemployed have a college education never ran into trouble with the law and are even getting rejected by Burger King. What can you do so that we don't have so many unemployed people who want to work?

I'd like to ask Rand Paul why he blocked a subpoena in the congressional criminal fraud investigation of how congressmen got Obamacare subsidies (especially when Rand Paul is supposedly against Obamacare), and how congressmen and their staffers were able to get designation as "small businesses" in order to get those subsidies.

Dr Paul, where do you stand on property tax? I find it against the American Dream to be able to lose your home due to unpaid taxes. Please, what are your thoughts?

I'm a close follower of yours from Canada (I wish we had more of your type around here!)

The Libertarian movement is growing at a very fast rate. The only thing holding it back is the main stream media and their penchant for "doing as they are told".

How as libertarians can we combat this other than participating in alternative media?

Senator Paul, if you don't win the Republican nomination, would you consider joining Gary Johnson's campaign as his Vice Presidential nominee?

As president would you exonerate whistleblowers who have exposed corruption in the us government? Bradley Manning and Snowden, for example...

Clearly my attacks on Trump's big government authoritarian Democratic party membership have hit a nerve with Mr. Trump. He's a fake conservative!

The source of the problem may be the Federal Guarantee of Student Loans ... some say that it's the cause for the increase in tuition because now you have a source to pay for such increases. If you would limit student loans to only those degrees that have jobs that pay sufficiently to cover the loan obligation, then you might see a complete restructuring of the "business of college education" ... right now, being a barista at Starbucks with a Religious Studies degree from an Ivy League school cannot generate sufficient income to cover the student debt.

Senator Paul how well do you think you show the country your presidential qualities on the debate stage? I think the world of you but frankly I don't think you will be nominated as the GOP if you don't start showing that side of yourself. You have a great resume, but now you must perform extremely well at your job interview that 14 other candidates are applying for. This is where I believe you are lacking. Improve this and you really could win the presidency.

I’m open to debating either candidate and perhaps this is already in the works…stay tuned for that.

Dr Paul, Since the proper way to fight judicial activism was to support the baker who refused to bake a cake for a same-sex couple, why did you end up supporting the law-breaking Davis?

Have you considered hiring a mathematician to put your tax plan and plans to eliminate the NSA and Department of Education into a finacial model to show people exactly the effect your tenure as president would have on this nation?

What is your stance in the growing popularity in malware and spyware and hackers? This is a race-war for everyone in the world. Is America going to be safe against cyber-terrorists and will America use this to safeguard our homeland from terrorism through cyber-security?
