Now all they do is live off the rest of us! I say NO to immigrants getting welfare! You wanted to come here, that's fine, but you need to pay your own way.

That has been policy since the late 1800's unless they do it on their own. Usually met at the dock or after passing through Ellis Island by people who spoke their language they ended up in Little Italy or Little Dublin or Little this and that. Even today Brighton Beach is a major enclave of Russian Immigrants. Chinatown? Little Tokyo or Little Manila? the Barrios? How do you assimilate when the government bends over backwards to ensure you don't learn English to the point of teaching in the home language and printing all the forms in the home language.

Assimilate? Melting Pot. No. It's diversity = divisive = divide and keep conquered for over a hundred years.

As for welfare the legal immigrants now dropped to 65,000 a year are required to have certain ability and skill levels depending on which country. There are no set rules. Hell now we are welcoming terrorists. Maybe the government needs some help in that specialty.

I would guess most of the illegal aliens are the welfare recipients as opposed to the legal immigrants. I doubt I'm far off the mark. But now we have a negative immigration between the US and south of the border. what for. Crap economy, fast developing police state . No reason. There are good reasons to become expat. Starting with Constitution? What's that got to do with this government?

We could avoid building a wall between us and Mexico if we simply denied non citizens welfare and other hand outs.

Citizens of the United States of Mexico and citizens of the United States of America are known as vecinos distante or distant neighbors. The wall has been in place for a long time. All two or three mostly unmanned miles of it. You may recall idiot Trump referring to the comic book which he claimed taught people how to cross the border illegally. Not true. It does just the opposite. Another reason not to vote for a left wing fascist corporatist. Truth is not something that bothers his mind to any extent

Potentially, but I think there are two reasons for the wall and one is national defense. I totally agree with denying all but American Citizens the rights to welfare. But then, I'm against government welfare to Citizens as well. ;)

Indeed! The whole 'wall thing' is another crony building project that will not achieve all its cheerleaders want. Mexico pay for it...ha, right! It would still be a crony government project that would be as effective as any other wall in history. That expensive fence thing they sold us isn't working out so well, either....

If I wanted to go to Mexico, maybe so, but that is only a potential problem. We face right now the very real problem of uncontrolled immigration - and not just because of lack of physical constraints. If we don't get our immigration policy sorted out, the influx of welfare recipients is going to bankrupt us socially not just economically. And we haven't even touched the terrorist threats coming across the southern border.

I put this somewhere else as well but vis a vis Mexico we are now experiencing a negative immigration as many are going south including illegals. Lack of jobs and high cost of living has made going north not a good choice. As for going south to various parts of Latin America the emigration from the US is on the rise.

Good point. I actually remember during 9/11 when it was reported that Bush ordered the borders to be sealed . I thought how do you plan on doing that? Amazing 14 years later and the border is just as porous.
